Kickstarter

One week since we shattered the 18K ceiling, just a few more things to move to Island Bread Company's new home in the Red Cup building...much progress has been made in the new space and we ought to be baking next Tuesday, just in time for Memorial Day weekend! Keep your noses tuned, you'll know when we're at it!

I want to take a moment to thank two more wonderful people who have opened up a bit of their "home" to me, and without whom the relocation and building of the brick oven wouldn't be possible...

THANK YOU Ann Lennon and Mike Remke! You gave me a home for my business!

The Rock. 

In this case defined as a strong, supportive someone that can be relied on.

The one encouraging me to keep baking, after The Washington Hotel closed. 

The Rock. 

The one encouraging me to keep trying to find another place to bake, after The Washington Hotel became suddenly unavailable. 

The Rock. 

"Keep making bread, we’ll find a way to build you a brick oven."

And on, and on…and then I found Kickstarter, and they denied my proposal.  But there was The Rock, encouraging me to keep trying until my proposal was so good they couldn’t say no. And then Kickstarter said YES, and there was The Rock again, helping spread the word far and wide about the brick oven Kickstarter project.  And here we are with a successfully funded project!

And so, I’m taking this opportunity in the public forum to say:

 THANK YOU,

for all that encouragement, when some days it seemed impossible. 

Here we are, a brick oven (nearly) in hand!

Yes, I am a child of the 80's.  I think it was REO Speedwagon who said it first.

We made our goal! We are so appreciative! Now we're hoping to keep on rolling so we can cover the cost of the 10% fee that Kickstarter/Amazon charges for their amazing program. We didn't know what would happen when we put this together, and didn't want to set our goal too high in case we didn't reach it, because then we would get nothing...

But maybe, just maybe there's a few of you out there who wanted to pledge a little...there's still time! If we can get to 19,800, then we'll actually get our 18,000 to pay for materials and Kirby's labor to build the oven.  As of now, we'll have a 16,200 payout, which will leave us a little short of oven cost.

If there's anyone out there you were planning to share our project with, but didn't get a chance to yet, please do! Every dollar helps!
