Taking It To The Streets...

It all started in 2005, when the very first episode of 3rd Coast Fiyah aired. Since the show's inception, it has truly served as launching pad for what I have been called to do in media. The show has won numerous media awards, has been recognized by several music industry associations, and also been an inspiration for many current radio shows and DJs who are also having global impact. Then of course last year, we started GroovSpot.com (R&P's Spot on the Web) and the radio component to the site, GroovSpot Radio. Incorporating these shows via podcast has yielded weekly listeners all around the country and abroad.

With that said, the next step of the vision is taking the music to the people! In 1996, myself and a group of musicians were hosting a ministry outreach event in Austin during SXSW. While standing outside, I saw a party bus going down the street and a band was playing on top of it. That image stuck in my head ever since that night, and always wondered to myself, wouldn't it be cool to have a HUGE mobile stage for the artists in Christian Hip Hop and Urban Gospel that I play on my shows? 

The Vision...

Ladies and gentleman, that is the goal and vision I present to you. 3rd Coast Fiyah & GroovSpot LIVE!  Picture a 50' x 40' stage, with big sound, lights, and TV monitors that we bring TO YOU!  3CF/GS LIVE would enable us travel anywhere and host quality events with the same life changing music and messages that you hear on my mixshows. Plus the 3CF/GS LIVE would serve as a platform for artists to tour in a comfortable setting without having to deal with multiple venues. We would provide the venue and partner with churches and organizations to host events in their parking lots or any open air space they have access to.

The Three Phases...

We cannot do this alone, and we need your help! In order to accomplish this, we will do it three phases (this being phase one, and the smallest). Phase one is to raise funds for just the DJ equipment needed for the mobile set up. We plan to purchase a bundle package which will cover the cost of a digital DJ controller, casing for the unit, and a set of powered speakers (which will also serve as stage monitors). This phase will provide the first accessories needed to begin the rest of the project. The second phase will be raising the funds needed to purchase the audio and visual equipment for the entire stage. And the third phase will be raising the funds to purchase the stage and trailer to haul it. These phases will be presented later on this year.

We have a great opportunity here to do something that I think in the genre of music I spin has never been done. I told someone recently that this is not my project, but I consider this OUR project together for those who stand with me to see it come to pass. Think of the countless lives that could be impacted with something of this magnitude.
