8 short plays which examine the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Twenty years later, these plays sift through our city's ashes

On April 28, 2012, 20 Years After the Los Angeles Uprising - L.A Views V: April 29, 1992 will premiere at Company of Angels in Downtown Los Angeles. The oldest non-profit professional theater in Los Angeles. Company of Angels produces theater that reflects and responds to the richness, diversity, and complexity that is LA
L.A Views V: April 29, 1992 features 8 short plays set in the 1992 Los Angeles Civil Unrest that followed the exoneration of four LAPD officers involved in the Rodney King beating. The unrest sparked widespread looting, assault, and arson. In all, 53 people died, thousands more were injured, and property damage topped 1 billion dollars. Twenty years later, these plays dig through our City's ashes and offer accounts of a time whose impact on Angelenos is still being assessed. From business owners to looters, newscasters to people trapped in the darkness of it all, a diversity of perspectives shed light on the legacy of 4/29/92. Launched in 2008, the L.A. Views series embraces a different City of Angels theme each year. Previous L.A. Views productions explored the concepts of hunger, gentrification and the need for community, as well as the famous former residents of Company of Angels Home at The Alexandria Hotel.
