       About the film

Be part of something very special as we put together this documentary film about homeschooling and unschooling.

Many people wonder why homeschooling is on the rise in the United States.

Have you ever wondered what homeschooling is all about?  Well, the families that we film will tell you their story and what has proven successful for them.

The main objective of this film is to showcase our aggregate accomplishments as a whole.  With an estimated 2.5 million families homeschooling we are now able to quantify some of these accomplishments.

For example the current trends in childhood obesity.  What would be your guess as to how many homeschoolers might suffer from obesity?

Naturally obesity has consequences, like Type 2 Diabetes or depression.  If your previous answer was "not many,"  then you are probably right.  Now let us explore this theory.  How much do you think 2.5 million people who have a low incidence of obesity save the US economy in less treatment of obesity, depression and Type 2 diabetes?

We have more theories that this documentary intends to prove, like less prevalence of bullying in homeschooling, less ADHD diagnosis, better nutrition, higher active participation in ecology, less commercial consumption, less television and media exposure, among many others.  We are so excited to show the world how wonderful homeschooling or unschooling can be. 

Naturally we will also explore some of our hardships and tackle some old myths.

Some experts in the field will share their knowledge with us and our viewers.

Let us talk a little about how we will use these funds.

Making a documentary is a big task.  This is actually a homeschooling project so my two daughters will be involved.  They are 9 and 6.  I will be leading the project and my wife will do administrative and creative work.

We will have to purchase and/or rent some professional film equipment as well as post production equipment and marketing services.

We are planning to visit 7-10 families across the US, so we will have to drive or fly to location.  The duration of filming and producing the movie will be exactly 12 months to be released February of 2013.

I have been involved in a few film projects, commercials and produced one full length informercial.  My family has been in the film industry for over 25 years and I have been drawing a lot of knowledge and tips from them.
