Kickstarter

I have been writing plays for five years now, and have made the decision to take on the administrative, financial, and artistic duties of moving my words off the page, bringing them to life in the theater. Writing a play begins with an idea that is born from the heart. Reading a play allows the imagination to create the scenes beyond the words. Producing a play is combining the written word and the imagined background not only to be seen and heard, but to be experienced by the theatergoer. 

My latest play, simply titled PRINCE, is a biting, dark comedy about a young man hitting his quarter life crisis as a member of the millennial generation. It is a play about getting trapped in a small town, addiction, and entitlement. It is about change; learning that in becoming an adult you develop an awareness that the many things you don’t yet know far outweigh the things you do. It is the best play that I have written in my young career. It is a piece that I am incredibly passionate about. 

Part of producing a play (and in my opinion, the least appealing part) is raising the money to put on the show. I could use your help with this. In order to get this play on its feet and in front of a live audience, I have launched this kickstarter campaign to fund the production. Kickstarter is an amazing online community of artists seeking funding for the projects they are currently working on. What makes Kickstarter unique is their “all-or-nothing” fundraising model. They ask me, as the artist, to set a goal for my fundraising, and if by the end of my allotted fundraising period I don’t meet that goal, any amount donated goes back to the individual donors. Because of this, it becomes crucial for me to meet my goal, and it protects your investment, because donation will be going directly to this production of PRINCE.

The money raised will go towards renting a theater, booking rehearsal space, buying costumes, sets, props, and paying the actors and other theater technicians involved. Any contribution will benefit the production of this wonderful new play. If you are not able to contribute to the production financially, I would love to see you in the audience of the show.
