About this project

First and foremost, thank you, thank you, thank you, for checking out our project.

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Darren Lutz (but you can call me Skip :-) and I am the Creator/Director of DinosaurUs ExploreUs. We are looking to you, our friends, family, colleagues, soon to be friends, partners and anyone who loves great animation, to help fund the creation of an animated pilot for our children's show, "DinosaurUs ExploreUs".

WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED "DINOSAURUS EXPLOREUS"?

The concept of this uniquely named show - DinosaurUs ExploreUs, came to me a few years back when I was spending time in New York, and, I was struck by a crazy revelation. We humans, made this place. We made the brick and mortar, the roads, lights, taxies, the Statue of Liberty, the tallest building in the world… everything. Without humans, none of this existed sans trees, water, animals and dirt. All of this, came from that! While walking through the city, I couldn't help but be amazed by what we have done, and what are capable of doing.

The seeds of DinosaurUs ExploreUs were sprung that afternoon.

My inner child told me, make this for children. Make this for the little sponges that are so open to this wonderful understanding and allow them to see humanity as it really is, amazing, inventive, creative…

THE SHOW

The show DinosaurUs is rooted in the fact that, "humans" are simply remarkable – irrelevant to race, sex, location, time or culture. No matter from which continent you hail or corner of the world you come from, it is humans that have imagined, engineered, and created every single extraordinary innovation found in the world.

With thousands of artifacts, structures, and objects waiting to be explored, this visually unique combination of 2D illustration and 3D animation combines original music, songs, and fresh ideas in a cross between Schoolhouse Rock!, Archaeology Magazine and How It's Made, that introduces children to human innovations, exploration, and imagination.

WHAT WE'VE CREATED SO FAR

Two years and a sizable investment have already been made into the development of the show’s concept, pitch bible (including all characters, environments and episodes), pilot script, business plan, title song and 2 1/2 min title song animation. The show has been presented to numerous broadcasters world-wide with ongoing interest in its development.

THE NEXT STEP

The next step in the development cycle is to create a 7 minute pilot episode about our five Dinos visiting Mexico and the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, where they/we learn about it's vibrant culture, music, how seasons were/are identified and the creation of the first calendar (based on the El Castillo (The Kukulkan Pyramid)-that is still in use today.

THE GOAL OF THE SHOW

The goal of DinosaurUs ExploreUs is to use these endearing Dino characters and unique visual animation style to show children, world-wide, that people are people are people and everyone has something special to share and contribute.

WHAT YOU GET ?

We will also be keeping you posted on funding progress, development updates, and special information right from our main Dino-Oscar.

Once the show is complete, we will add it to our DinosaurUs ExploreUs pitch package, and it will be presented and pitched to the educators in school systems and libraries, broadcasters, and the multi-media world by myself, Tina Lutz the show’s producer and global agent Hgagnon Distribution.

FINAL THOUGHTS

DinosaurUs is near and dear to our hearts. It has been an exhilarating two year roller-coaster development process which has come to its final and most exciting stage. Creating the "Pilot Episode". With the help of the awesome people at KICKSTARTER and YOU, our new friends, we Believe we can fund this project and make DinosaurUs ExploreUs the next BIG THING in children's entertainment.

As we launch into this new endeavor, we are excited, nervous, anxious, giddy but confident we will find the support from the folks who feel the same way we do and want to have a positive impact our upcoming generation through endearing and inspiring animated programming.

(geek speak) WHAT IS A PILOT?

A television pilot, also known as a pilot episode and series premiere, is the first episode of a television series. At the time of its inception, the pilot is meant to be the "testing ground" to see if a series will be possible and successful and therefore a test episode of an intended television series. It is an early step in the development of a television series.
