Hot young choreographer Andrea Miller creates cutting-edge solo for ballerina Drew Jacoby to music by RadioHead premiering in NYC
Be a part of a brand new unique dance creation and help usher ballet into a new realm! Two independent young women in the prime of their careers will collaborate to bring something truly special to the stage.
Gallim Dance artistic director Andrea Miller is choreographing a work for contemporary ballerina Drew Jacoby. The piece will premiere October 29-30 at New York City Center's Fall For Dance Festival. Dubbed "The Wild One" and listed as one of the "25 to Watch" by Dance Magazine, Miller's highly physical, one-of-a-kind work is rapidly gaining attention in the world dance scene. http://www.dancemagazine.com/issues/April-2011/The-Wild-One
Jacoby, said to be "breaking the ballet mold" by Dance Magazine and a Princess Grace Award winner, will perform the solo around the world over the coming year in prestigious venues including New York City Center, The Joyce Theater NYC, New Orleans Ballet Association, Holland Dance Festival, and Belgrade Festival.
Funding will go toward studio rental, costume design, lighting design, stage managing fees, promotion, music royalties, and related artistic expenses.
This project is already underway. Rehearsals have started, dates and venues are set, but we need some additional funds to bring this amazing project to the next level!
