Hey guys, I wanted to to post a quick update now that I've got some downtime. This week we worked to get the rubber and protective plastic (for shipping) onto most of the hangers. UPS was a little fouled up in our area due to the hurricane, and some of the parts that were expected earlier this week arrived on Friday. It's just as well because assembly is taking a bit longer than expected. The majority of what's left is to put caps on the hangers, fold boxes, and figure out the least painful way to print 100 shipping labels. With the way things are going, it appears we'll still make it for the original September deadline, which is fantastic.
On a side note, there have been a few concerns about existing patents for guitar hangers. As I got more emails about it, obviously it became more concerning. As a professional product designer, I know patent infringement accusations can be serious. So I went to a patent attorney and had him review all existing guitar hanger patents, looking for any conflict with this guitar hanger design. I'm happy to say that he found all of the existing patents to be so specific that he saw no reason for infringement concerns, meaning these are green-lit for sale online after I fulfill the kickstarter orders. I'll also be applying for a patent, just for a small amount of design protection. I'm told it also makes marketing to large retailers quite a bit easier. We'll certainly see!
Thanks again for the support and patience guys and gals! Have a great weekend!
