When a rising star of the financial world finds himself down on his luck, he turns to the only profession that makes sense: Busking.
PROJECT
"Buskers" is a comedy pilot that will be shot in the style of a half-hour sitcom. "Two and a Half Men" you say? Well not quite. "Buskers" will be shot entirely on location and will exhibit a cinematic style.
PLOT
"Buskers" is the story of a rising star in the financial world - Tim Johnson. But everything changes when Tim is fired and is forced to find a new way to live.
After meeting a rag-tag group of street performers, Tim decides to try busking out for himself. This show follows Tim's struggle to get his job back and his introduction into the mysterious world of street performance.
A WHAT-SKER?
busk
intransitive verb. busked, busk·ing, busks
To play music or perform entertainment in a public place, usually while soliciting money.
OUR GOAL
There's more to film than just film. And for this project - a TV length pilot, that is especially true. We are trying to show that street performing is not a dead art, and that busking has a huge impact on the culture of every city, especially one as historic as Boston. By casting several actors who have or currently busk in this beautiful city we have added another dimension of realism to our show.
By donating, you are helping to support not only independent film, but independent music as well. Some of the most talented musicians in the world are sitting in the courtyard of Faneuil Hall playing guitar for quarters.
WHERE'S THE MONEY GOING?
All sorts of places. Since we are shooting in the city of Boston, we need some money for permits, but the most important reason is because we need to eat. 10-12 hour work days means that our army-sized crew is going to be eating a ton of food and that gets expensive fast. We are also renting a few pieces of crucial equipment from our friends at Boston Camera.
CAST
Who's acting in this thing? Well - we held casting calls and received over 60 applicants for the 5 musical roles in this show, and we chose some of the most talented people in the city of Boston. Some of these actors have even been buskers before and all of them are ready to play for the world.
Tim - Jared Canfield

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Having such a large crew on the city streets of Boston is one of our major challenges. We have to figure out how to shoot around the people in the city, while still maintaining the busy feel of the city and the culture that goes with it.
Culture is going to be our biggest struggle. With such a historic place like Boston we really have to find the best locations to showcase that.
We just desperately want to be able to show people how important busking is to our city, and every city like ours. Many people think street performance is a dying art - and we have the hard task of convincing them otherwise with this show.
But with the incredibly talented crew that we have put together, we feel that there's no obstacle that we can't overcome in oder to get our show finished and out there to the public.
