About this project
Maxine can’t figure it out. She’s not sure she wants to. Someone or something has been leaving things for Maxine in a ditch just outside the trailer park. Things she and her family need: socks for her kids, toilet paper, milk, dog food. These are all things she’d either have to spend her meager paycheck on or steal. And she has stolen before out of desperation. But stealing is stealing; thieves are thieves. In fact, the whole damn town knows about her and they don’t take kindly to that kind of behavior.
Some think she’s no-good. Even Maxine thinks she’s no-good. How’s she supposed to justify accepting a whole box of frozen dinners or oil for the pick-up? More importantly, how’s she supposed to convince herself that she’s worthy, that she’s better than no-good?
Film Information
No Good Maxine will be a 30 minute short movie filmed and produced in and around Hillsborough, NC. Production dates are currently scheduled for September 4th through the 12th.
Our goal is to tell the moving and magical story of Maxine; to capture audiences with a powerful, yet lighthearted film. This is a story of inspiration, a story of hope, and a story of overcoming one’s past to become something more. Written by Joshua O’Dell, the film will be directed by Michael Babbitt and produced by Krista Babbitt and Matthew Everson. Director of Photography will be Michael Back of Michael Back Productions. Rounding out the crew are Karen Harris, Issac Hicks and Allen Wolf.
No Good Maxine’s talented cast includes Melissa Lozoff, Jennifer Russoli, Elijah Chester, Andrew Friedrichs, Max Flynn and Lee Armstrong. Bombshell Studios will be handling the video post production and Everson Audio Productions will manage the audio production and post-production.
