Hello Kickstarter Backers,
Just over a year has gone by since we successfully funded this project! It’s hard to fathom how much has changed since then, not just in Louis’ life, but also in our country and in the film business, too.
The exciting news is that me and my editor, Mitra Bonshahi, spent the winter editing the film and we now have OUR FIRST ROUGH CUT! We combed through 180 hours of footage and found many incredible moments to tell this remarkable story. So where do we go from here and how do we get you the film as quickly as possible?
With the rough cut, we’re pursuing several promising relationships with distributors, broadcasters and financiers to get the film finished. What that means for the film’s timeline is that we are aiming for a fall release if everything moves quickly.
We’re readjusting the other rewards and hope to get started on delivering those to you as soon as possible. We’ll be in touch separately about t-shirts, focus groups and private clips.
We welcome your input and value your point of view as we move, well, forward. You are an important part of this film. Thank you.
Here’s a clip of Louis, via one of his favorite Obama speeches, recently endorsing marriage equality for all.
PS – If you’re in New York City, the IFC Center will be screening Bronx Obama (the short film adapted for the New York Times) from April 19-25 before feature length films.
