Dear Friends-
Thank you. I must begin with deep and heartfelt gratitude, as this past week sparkled. Everywhere we went, kind hearted people welcomed us with smiles and with song. We met friends from Russia, China, South Africa, Indonesia, the United States, Canada, Colombia, Japan... the list goes on and on and on.
The girls met the world, and both they and the world, I feel, are better for it... and so am I! I cannot possibly thank you enough!
We are in the process of getting our Kickstarter rewards out to you! However, realMusic informs me that it will be longer than August before the documentary is ready - they really want to do a good job for us, and plan to be detail oriented. I support this, as a rushed job will look like a rushed job! Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. I hope to have the documentary in-hand by late October!

We're leaving on Tuesday! We've been working and preparing (even though power outages due to last week's storms forced us to get creative with our rehearsal location) to represent the United States, Virginia, Charlottesville, Burley Middle School and you at the World Choir Games!

Folks- I lack vocabulary to thank you sufficiently; this project is going forward! To think that just a few hours ago we were still over a thousand dollars and a handful of days to ... right now. I told the girls during rehearsal today (they absolutely were in school during a summer vacation day - to work on music!) and to say they were utterly thrilled would be an understatement.
Thank you so much - for your generosity, for the lesson of generosity you've taught the girls, and for this enduring memory. I am so moved by your help and support.

Good morning and happy weekend!
It's been a very busy week: we've received our hotel information and our schedule, we know where we'll be for our friendship concert and who will serve as our clinician. All in all, we've got most of the major details nailed down, and I am very excited!
The girls will begin their pre-event rehearsal push this week, nailing down solo opportunities within some of our music... of which there is a lot. <3 We'll also go over the trip packet information to make sure everyone is aware of my expectations (not that I'm concerned about this group - they are *fantastic* people) and the schedule. As this update's title suggests, we're getting closer!
THANK YOU if you've already donated, and THANK YOU if you've made other folks aware of this "crowd-funded" means of supporting the girls! Remember, this is "all-or-nothing!" We need to reach our goal of $5500 or the project dies unfunded.
We'll find our final $1,360, I'm sure of it! Please let folks know about us! Family, friends, co-workers, book club members, running buddies, neighbors, folks at church... anyone in the world can donate!
For you, a little media with this update: this is a photo from the Bearettes visit to the Singing Men of Ohio University in Athens. The young women were guests of the men (who are a terrific group of people and great friends of ours!) and performed together in concert. A great, beautiful memory!
Also - a recording made by realMusic AV of Richmond. These are the fine folks who will create our documentary! The piece is "Baba Yetu" and is the Lord's Prayer in Swahili. The orchestra is comprised of former and current Albemarle High School students - also a beautiful, beautiful memory.
