Update #2: 117% !
I'm super excited to say that last night we passed the funding goal and reached 117%. Sincere thanks to all of you lovely people! Any money raised over the goal will be used for the expensive endeavor of processing all of the film and disposable cameras.
Here are a few more photos from Portland. I photographed people hanging out near the Portland airport watching planes take off and land at dusk.
Update #1: Recent happenings
Hey all,
The plane tickets have been purchased and all of the travel plans finalized. Even though I don't leave for a little under 3 months, I've been thinking about the project quite a bit. After a few more talks with my contacts in Nicaragua I'll begin writing lesson plans and gathering teaching materials. It's exciting to see 42% of the funds raised in just 11 days! Thanks so much for your support.
I've been shooting a lot recently in Portland, OR, where I've been living for the last few months. I've been working on my portraiture skills, especially speaking Spanish while photographing. Here's one photo from the last couple of weeks.

I like taking photographs while traveling along well-trodden routes and discovering unnoticed things. I also like using photography to engage myself with things I wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to experience. I believe that photography education is a powerful tool that can help people both read and speak the only universal language.
In addition to taking pictures, I occupy myself being a production designer for film and a photography teacher.
