Help support the launch of this new international chamber orchestra for young professional orchestral artists and soloists in Paris.

Thank you for visiting our Sinfonietta-Paris Kickstarter page! We are excited to share with you details related to the launch of this new professional chamber orchestra and the need for this campaign.

WHO WE ARE

Comprised of 40 young professional musicians who have trained at some of the world’s finest conservatories, Sinfonietta-Paris is a unique new chamber orchestra based in Paris, France dedicated expressly to featuring and supporting professional artists and soloists between 24 and 32 years of age.

We are now preparing to launch our first complete 2012-2013 season of 4 programs totaling 8 concerts. In order to build financial and political support for our first season, we need your help to kickstart several patron-donor events in Paris, France -- the first of which will take place on Saturday, May 5.  These events will feature the principal musicians of SP in a gala concert and are essential to attracting and securing private support to help fund our first season of operations -- basically, to get Sinfonietta-Paris off the ground!

Founded in 2011 and led by American Michael Boone, this international ensemble offers a distinctive profile to classical music audiences by featuring the collective talent of a new generation, promoting rising concert soloists and by attracting new audiences through remarkable project-driven concert programs.

THE CHALLENGE

As in most other professional fields, today's working landscape is very competitive for professional musicians and soloists. Openings in full-time professional orchestras around the globe are few and when an opening is announced, as many as 80 impressively talented and experienced musicians go through a rigorous audition process (over days, weeks or even months). Facing difficult odds in competing against more seasoned players, young professionals thus find work wherever they can: substituting within full-time orchestras, as members of small chamber ensembles (such as a string quartet or brass quintet), solo recitals—as well as performing in amateur ensembles.

A REMARKABLE OPPORTUNITY

The opportunity to perform in a professional orchestra committed to a high  standard of performing excellence and dedicated exclusively to emerging professionals is thus a very attractive proposition for musicians who belong to this skill and age category. Further, the opportunity to perform in a true chamber orchestra (40 musicians) as opposed to a full orchestra (90 musicians) fuels interest—as performing in a smaller orchestra increases the sense of ownership by its members. And further still, when combined with the mission to feature young professional soloists—the potential for a special and high quality artistic endeavor is present.

GETTING THIS PROJECT OFF THE GROUND

To help us meet the challenge of launching SP, we will host 3 Patron-Donor events here in Paris—the first beginning May 5. These events will provide the opportunity for us to introduce Sinfonietta-Paris to important individuals from the cultural, business and government communities of Paris. They will also allow us to seek and attract considerable donor support, making possible our inaugural 2012-2013 concert season. And finally, these events will feature the performing leaders of Sinfonietta-Paris in a gala concert.

WHERE YOUR HELP COMES IN

Your contribution to our Kickstarter campaign will make it possible for us to present these important patron events and address other essential start up needs--such as offering contracts to soloists, printing publicity materials, establishing our business account and managing other necessary expenses.

In many ways, this Kickstarter campaign is the first step to successfully launching our opening Sinfonietta-Paris concert season and we hope that you will join us.  THANK YOU for your contribution!

Note: the music heard on the above video was performed by Sinfonietta-Paris on June 2, 2011.  Movement II from Serenade for Strings, by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
