About this project

Us

Exquisite Corps (Ex Corps for short) began in 2009 as six theatre artists with a common passion and has quickly become one of Boston’s most active, fun, and eclectic fringe theatre operations. Since our inception, we have produced six full evenings of theatre including our most recent production, the critically-acclaimed Boston premiere of Canadian playwright Claudia Dey’s Trout Stanley.

What makes us special? We have professional standards and aspirations. Our work is story-based, audience experience-focused, and we aren’t afraid to cross genres or take risks. We have deep roots in Boston and a great track record.

In short, we have potential! We plan to go far, and we want to take you with us!

It

In October 2011, Ex Corps earned an opportunity to realize our potential: We applied for and were granted a performance run at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza Black Box Theatre in Boston’s South End, one of the city’s cultural capitols. From March 7-31, 2012, we will present a four-week run of our most challenging project yet: Edward Albee’s The Play About the Baby, using only the architecture and technology of the BCA.

We are proud to present this spare, emotionally-riveting dramedy by one of America’s most renowned and influential playwrights. We hope that its success will be the springboard that sends our company into its next phase of development.

You

We invite you to join us on our journey to the next level. Though our Baby  production budget is lean, we need your financial support to defray the costs that come with the privilege of performing at a venue like the BCA.

Please take a moment to watch the short video we’ve created about our past, present, and future. We hope that you feel inspired to become our partner in this exciting ascent. After all, you inspire us to do the work that we do.If you have any questions about how our budget works, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to hear from you.

Thank you, and we’ll see you in March at the BCA!

Exquisite Corps Theatre

Connected as Louisa Richards (299 friends)

Exquisite Corps is inspired by storytelling and sees live performance as a collaboration between artists and audience. We start with the story, discovering its human truths and emotional core. From there, we create compelling and honest productions that turn the heart of the story into the world of the play. Through our holistic approach to storytelling, we hope to draw you into the world of the play as fully as possible. We invite you to see, feel and question along with us as we explore the human experience, telling a new story with every show we do. While we know that your experience will be unique to you, we hope that it will always feel exciting, moving and true.
