Update #4 · Aug 19, 2011 · comment

Everyone!

We have less than $500 to raise - $479 to precise.  If you live in Orlando, please come to Bikes, Beans and Bordeaux tomorrow night between 7 and 10PM for a fundraiser they're hosting.  For every person who signs in that night they will donate $3.  It'll be a fun way to come together and celebrate reaching this goal together.

Tell your friends!  Thanks again for all the support you've shown - this is going to be an amazing festival.

Update #3 - 9 days and counting

Update #3 · Aug 13, 2011 · 1 comment

This will be quick!

We sold almost $1000 worth of art at our art auction and the artists donated almost $300.  That's five percent of our budget in about two hours - our best two hours of fundraising yet.  Including the auction funds and direct Kickstarter contributions, we raised $2000 between August 6th and August 11th!

We have added UCF guitar professor Eladio Scharrón and flautist Carrie Wiesinger to our chamber music concert on Thursday, September 8th.  They will perform Antonio Ruiz-Pipo's "Jarcias," which was dedicated to Dr. Scharrón and is a rarely performed masterpiece for flute and guitar.

We have just over a week to raise $1200.  Please tell your friends that love music about our festival.  For the price of one orchestra ticket or a night at the movies they can help us establish this festival as a haven for new music for years to come.

Thanks again for your support!

Accidental Music Festival - Less than three weeks to go!

Update #2 · Aug 2, 2011 · comment

This will just be a quick update.  Thank you again for supporting the Accidental Music Festival!  We're over 40% funded by 48 backers, with most donations in the amount of $25 or less.  We've had several donations of $85-$150 and one donation of $1000 from an anonymous donor!  In short, it's overwhelming to get this kind of support for a project that requires so much work from so many people.

On August 11th we will have an art auction and party at Urban Rethink to raise more funds for the festival.  If you or your friends or family are artists or art collectors, please encourage them to get in touch with us about the auction.  Artists will be able to keep up to 80% of the auction price with the rest going to our Kickstarter campaign.  There will be a wide range of styles and a very wide range of prices, and of course it's going to be a great party so plan to be there!

We're adding another two events to the festival schedule. Friday night (9/9/11) will be for the party people, night owls and the short attention spans as we will have a night of improvisation, spontaneity, conversation and film in an informal setting.  Because our festival is about new music and community engagement, expect audience participation.

Saturday (9/10/11) will feature a presentation by our guest composer Juan Trigos on his compositional practice of Abstract Folklore, and the genre he writes in, which he calls Hemofiction.  He will present video from a recent production of one of his operas.

Thanks again!  Mark your calendars for the art auction (August 11th, 6:30PM) and we'll see you soon!

Accidental Music Festival - Recap of our first week of fundraising.

Update #1 · Jul 25, 2011 · comment

Thanks for your support!  We are almost 12% funded, with 29 backers and $695 pledged.   Most backers are pledging at least $25. Over 200 people have shared the Kickstarter page with their friends on Facebook. We're going to add two more incentives to donors, including an additional incentive at the $25 level which everyone currently pledging at that level will also receive.  More info on that soon.

We are extremely excited to announce that TheDailyCity.com is now our official media sponsor.  They will be putting a lot of muscle behind promoting the Kickstarter campaign and the festival itself. We'll let you know when their campaign goes live - although it should be hard to miss.

Bikes, Beans and Bordeaux will also be hosting a fundraiser for us on August 20th to help get us over that final hurdle. For everyone who comes through the door they will donate $3 - let's pack the place.  You'll hear more about this as the date approaches.  In the meantime, go to their website and stop in to try their excellent coffee, sandwiches and wine.

Thank you again for pledging your support for innovative new music in Orlando. You recognize that events like this are essential to the culture of our city.  Your contribution will go so much further than you can imagine.  If you haven't already, please consider sharing the link to the Kickstarter page on your social media platforms, or even better - tell someone about in person! http://kck.st/oYWQKJ

We've revamped our webiste - stop in and learn more about the festival.

Thanks!  Feel free to e-mail me if there is anything I can do to support your projects.
