INTRO
First of all, a sincere thank you from us for visiting our Kick Starter campaign. We are Electric Litany and during the preparations for our 2nd album, we have been given the opportunity to collaborate with renowned and universally respected record producer Alan Parsons - Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, The Beatles' Abbey Road, Let It Be and The Alan Parsons Project (to name just a few of his credentials).
EL SO FAR...
In the beginning we spent three years writing and rehearsing in derelict public buildings across England. In 2010, using an abandoned church in North London, England, we recorded our 10-track debut album in three days. After mixing in Athens and mastering in Abbey Road, "How to be a Child and win the War" was ready for release. After just a few months the album received a very positive following which led to tours around Europe, solo live shows and supporting bands such as Interpol.
We've been sincerely humbled by the response and support that our album and live performances have received so far. Our online presence has grown with hundreds of live and fan-made videos. We've also been busy making and editing our own official videos, always made on shoe-string budgets but without losing artistic value. In recent months we've been working hard on new tracks and ideas for the second album which we're feeling really good about. We're also excited for the progression in our music and can't wait to get into the studio to create the album.
In case you were wondering...we are a 4-piece band consisting of Alexandros Miaris (vocals, guitars, piano, synths, cello), Richard Simic (drums, electronic percussion and samples), Benjamin Prince (synths, piano, lapsteel, percussion) and Alex Deligiannidis (bass, keys, vocoder).
ALAN PARSONS
In the past we've discussed the idea of working with Alan but never really thought we'd get our music into his hands, let alone hear back from him with the reply that he wanted to produce our next album. His back catalogue of work says it all and as big fans of Pink Floyd, we couldn't have hoped for a better producer for our music.
Over the past 18 months our creativity has been building and now reached a level, that with Alan on board, we feel could bring out the best in our music. This will be a chance to really create something special. Our accustomed style for melancholic atmospheres and experimentation, combined with Alan's creativity and experience would make for a very unique album.
So, with Mr Parsons on board and excited about our music, we now need your help to make all of this happen...
WHY KICKSTARTER?
Up until now we have been very lucky to have a close-nit community of friends and fans who have helped us with favours, equipment, travel, accommodation, food, camera work, websites, beds, batteries, lights, instruments, rehearsal spaces and even clothes! Without these people we would not have been able to tour and release our music in the way we have done so far. This idea of a communal relationship between us, our music and the fans, should be the way that all music and art functions. An honest and sincere exchange between musicians and people who truly love the music.
With the help of Kickstarter, we would love to extend our community to all that believe in our music, to help us share and create a unique second album. This is the advantage of Kickstarter, to enable exciting collaborations and projects come to life.
WHY DO WE DESERVE IT?
We are not unforgivably blind drunk in ignorance, nor are we walking through forests were money falls as freely as the rain in England. We are however honest and hardworking and understand the reality of the money we need to raise...
In this world no-one deserves $60,000 for free, which is why we 've worked hard, coming up with a variety of rewards to justify your pledge and your interest in Electric Litany and Alan Parsons.
Creating the record independently gives us incredible artistic freedom, but it also means we need to raise our own financing. Just some of the costs we need to cover include studio time, producers, engineers, mixing, mastering, transport, which unfortunately are costs that come with making an album independently.
We realise this is a lot of money and we are under no illusion it will come easy. Asking for money is not a process that comes naturally to us but in reality there's no way we can raise this amount of money on our own. Hopefully the rewards we've come up with reflect your support and if you can think of any others please get in touch. And of course, we look forward to sharing the album with you.
