Official Update #2
Hello Backers!
This week turned out to be very productive! I am happy to announce the inclusion of three new members into our Development Team!
Our increased budget has allowed us the include these new members. Each of them will bring something very special to Echoes of Eternia and will further our strive for a high quality game.
Eric Niskanen: Pixel Artist
Rebecca Lemker: Pixel Artist
Aakaash Rao: Composer
We are very happy to have all three of these wonderful people on our team! Below, you can see examples of their work.
Eric will be creating an entirely original and high quality graphical set for use in Echoes of Eternia. Rebecca will focus on spriting all of the characters into a much more mature and detailed style. Aakaash will be composing a few extra songs along side Dream Orbit Music!
We will try to supply you with new information in the coming week or so, but with the construction of the new graphics, it may take some time. If you don't know, pixel art takes a VERY long time to make. Fortunately, both Eric and Rebecca are amazing at what they do! All of my time will be used in writing the story and further testing the programming. We believe that once the graphics are done, we will have most of the game planned out and can easily create the environments and events that happen in them. We do not expect this to extend development or delay the game at all.
As you can see by the pixel art below, Echoes of Eternia has taken a rather drastic graphical change. We felt this was necessary as it compliments Melissa Wang's artwork and our story line much better. We are aiming at a more mature art style, but still keeping a whimsical fantasy look.
These new graphics will set apart Echoes of Eternia from any other game on the market. We are determined to make E.o.E unlike anything you have ever played before.

Till 12 days to go. I have no idea how far this will go hand how you think you can even top what you already have and what you are doing if everything continues like that!

Hmmm can the pixelated art be optional like in the Disgaea series? I actually prefer the smooth graphics, its one of the things that drew me to the project.

Suggestion: Make those fully proportional sprite bodies for the battle sequences, while making cute chibi versions of the characters when moving around the map. ^_^

Hey, just noting that I believe it would be nicer to have the sprite proportion you've shown above for the battle and something slightly smaller for the maps. Unless 8-directions are used, I don't believe that proportion looks really good on maps.
