Driving is a visual effects heavy film about the classic story of a girl learning how to drive with her Dad...in outer space.

About our project!

Driving is an ambitious short, sci-fi action/adventure film, shot in stereoscopic 3D, with green screen and CGI effects. The film aims to tell a heartwarming and relatable story in an exciting, sci-fi world. Our film, which is being worked on by a group of young and passionate filmmakers, needs your help to turn this vision into a reality.

Story:

Who doesn't remember learning how to drive? In our story, a teenage girl attempts to learn how to drive a spaceship, but with so many rules and an overprotective father, it's no easy task.

Kelly is a typical free-spirited teenage girl who lives with the constant pressure of living up to her dad's impossibly high expectations. Dad is a tough, perfectionist and a stickler for the rules.

The planet Helio is a futuristic, modern metropolis home to millions of people, commerce and shipping transports. Kelly and her family live in the suburban asteroids that surround the planet. Kelly must navigate the chaotic and convoluted traffic of other spaceships on Helio, as well as an unexpected space battle, to earn her driver's license and her dad's trust.

What your money goes towards:

  • Location costs (renting a sound stage and green screen can be pricey!)
  • Production Design (we need to build a spaceship/car!)
  • Actors (even paying our actors the bare minimum still inflates the prices)
  • Production Elements (equipment, cameras, feeding the crew, etc.)

The more funds we receive the better we can make our film! More money means better production design, quality music composition, design work and more!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Because our film is so visual effects heavy it is going to be a challenge to bring to life an entire science-fiction world. There is always a chance that we can run into digital problems such as things taking longer to model, animate or render into 3D than anticipated. Our project is ambitious but we are confident that with the combined efforts of all of our talented artists and filmmakers that we can do it!
