Welcome to the third progress diary. In this diary David answers more questions from fans posting on our forums. In this diary he covers cockpits, music, maintaining ships for long range exploration and the all important question of where he gets his jumpers from!

If you’re a member of the Private Backers Forum and would like to suggest a question then visit our forums and post your question in the questions thread.

In the video David is rather tastefully modelling one of the new backers t-shirts. These have been posted out, along with the mugs and unsigned concept prints. If you’re waiting for a signed print then I’m sorry to say there has been an issue in transit to us, so we’re having new ones sent that David can sign. This should be sorted within the next couple of weeks.

There has been a slight delay with the latest newsletter, but this will be sent out next week.

Hi eveeryone,

Michael here with the latest fiction diary. In this video I discuss the Elite story approvals process, the history of the Pilot's Federation and answer some questions posted in the DDF.

In other Elite: Dangerous news we're pleased to announce that the physical add-ons will start going out this week as the deal has now been finalised. We apologise that this this has taken longer than we expected. If you haven't ordered anything and still want to (or you hadn't provided the required information needed for this round) then we will have another opportunity in the next few months for you to do so.

The latest newsletter will also be sent out very soon (hopefully later today!). 

To finish this update I've included a drabble based in the Elite universe. Drabbles are 100 word stories, that have to be exactly 100 words. We'll be featuring some from our other Elite authors in future newsletters and fiction diaries:

Homecoming by Michael Brookes

The observation deck was the best place to watch the ships at Lave station. It was always busy with ships from all over the galaxy. Dirk spent every hour he could sat on the bench, his feet not quite reaching the floor.

He watched the ships come and go, marking each on his personal slate. The security guards joked that the boy’s records were more accurate than the station computer’s. But it was one ship in particular he waited for. Seeing the battered old trader he’d leap from the seat and rush to the arrival bays.

His daddy was home.

Hi everyone,

and welcome to the second Elite: Dangerous Progress Diary. In the video David answers some of questions posed in the private backers forum. We're enjoying using these as the centre piece for these videos, so keep the questions coming. We'll keep picking new ones that we can answer.

The new image used in the background of the video is a view along the front of the centre line of the Federation cruiser.

As well as these monthly progress diaries we're getting into the swing of the bi-weekly newsletters. Issue #3 will be coming out next week and has some great stuff to look forward too.

Hi everyone,

Michael here in the first fiction diary update. The fiction diaries will supplement the dev diaries that David does, and will focus more on the world of Elite: Dangerous, the people in it and the histories. I also intend that we'll include the other authors in future fiction diaries so we can see how they are progressing.

And I know that the Alliance is really the 'Alliance of Independent Systems' :-)

New Concept Art

Here's the new concept art that was used in the background. Those of you that have read the newsletter will recognise the ship as the Federation cruiser. 

Pledge Add-Ons Update

The pledge add-ons (mugs, t-shirts and concept prints) are currently being organised. We are finalising the details with the supplier and should have more definite delivery estimates in the next few weeks. To facilitate this we will need to update the terms and conditions on the web app so make sure to check that out.

If you haven't supplied the needed information to fullfill your order then don't worry, we will do another round in the summer. So if you haven't ordered and you want to, then you will get another opportunity as well.

Lave Revolution

welcome to the latest update for Elite: Dangerous. In this update we have the latest dev diary, a new piece of concept art and a few other items.

Dev Diary

The latest dev diary is shown below. We have opened a thread in the private backers forums so people can suggest what questions they'd like us to answer. This will be an ongoing feature, so make sure to get involved in the thread to add your suggestion:

We intend to present a new dev diary every month, so keep those questions coming.

Concept Art

We're currently looking at the ships and their styles for the game. One of these is first of the very large ships in game. The first large ship to get the concept treatment is an Imperial cruiser as seen below:

Web App Updates

A web app update email was sent out earlier this week. Most pertinent is the fact that we are locking down the physical add-ons (mugs, t-shirts and printed concept art) this coming Sunday 17th Feb). You must have your details for items and delivery added to the system by this date. We will do a follow up in the early summer for people who have missed this deadline and for any new backers.

Newsletters

We are aiming to start the backer newsletters (if you pledged a reward of £10 or higher you should receive this) next week. These will provide a more intimate view of the game and its progress. We'll continue the Kickstarter updates for new videos and dev diaries as well.

Can I Still Back The Game?

Yes you can. We are still accepting pledges via PayPal on our web site. We are looking into other payment methods. If you have already pledged, but want to increase your participation then you can do that via the web app.
