Even though we won't have the ability to seamlessly fly toward a planet and land on it; if we fly toward the rings of saturn, will they appear as rocks/asteroids?

Creator Frontier Developments on December 27
@ Captain Kremmen
No, but my understanding is that it is pretty small compared to the Kickstarter pledges.

Been flicking through the comments while debugging some code so apologies if I am picking up on a long lost thread - re developing galaxy and what should be there. in the extremes of the galaxy.
I see a number of elements
1) Parts should never be inhabited - so there is no guarantee of life in any form
2) New races/factions should appear during the life span of the game to create interest
3) Player based factions should be able to create pockets of evolving life.
4) SPL should create a library of objects for buildings/fields/space station parts which should be available for player/faction utilisation in some fashion. Players could then exploit natural resources of the planet they develop and maybe at some point that resource runs out.
I understand the purists dont want this last aspect but to me this guarantees an evolving galaxy.
Creator Joerg Starkmuth on December 27
I hope that once the current boost starts to weaken, FD will come up with another cool in-game video. Maybe we'll finally see close-ups of a space station? Or even a docking sequence?
Creator James Jones on December 27
How about some wow factor? Imagine flying through the rings of Saturn!
Creator Cmdr Elvis Brandenburg - Kremmen on December 27
@Monkeyman..err very well ty at the moment would suffice :)
Creator Alexander R on December 27
I am hoping we see some significant variety in ship types; in addition to capitol ships can you imagine giant lumbering transports covered along the length of their structural spine in inflated bags of gas / chemicals. They would make a rich target for pirates but could also be tempting to traders due to their low initial construction / purchase cost and massive cargo capacity.
Think of the ship from 2001 but with inflated storage attached to the superstructure.
Creator Alex Korbey on December 27
just over £5k to go. awesome.
Creator Lee Cotterill on December 27

Creator Lee Cotterill on December 27
@ All cheers people, hopefully this will get made, nearly of the 1 million line, lets push it over now, ill provoke the wrath of my twitter/facebook followers by info bombing them into pledge submission! :)
Creator Paul Maunders on December 27
@Associat0r cool thanks :)
Creator MonkeyMan (Happy New Elite to everyone!) on December 27
@captain - it may be worthwhile letting them keep that under their hat for now...
Creator Jeremy Curtis on December 27
Only having Macs here the stretch goal for Mac support is nice. Having been on the £500 tier since the first day or so of the campaign, I was wondering how well ED would run in the likes of VMware Fusion - maybe I don't have to worry too much about that now? In any case, being a few minutes walk from the Frontier office if they want a tame alpha / beta tester now and then on-site for an objective view of things, just drop me line!
Creator Cmdr Elvis Brandenburg - Kremmen on December 27
@Michael..Hi any idea yet how the paypal donations are going ?
Creator Frontier Developments on December 27
@ Thiago
No only payments through kickstarter count towards the kickstarter system, however we can take the paypal contributions into account for stretch goals.
Michael
Creator MonkeyMan (Happy New Elite to everyone!) on December 27

Can anyone recommend a headset that works with Xbox, PS3 and PC?
Creator Jason S on December 27
What i am hoping for is to be able to play this one day on a tablet and then to continue the same game on the PC or Mac and then continue the game on the ipad or Android tablet. For when on the sofa or train etc....
From what has been said I am hopeful for that.
Creator Cmdr. Bond [DDF Member + Ship ID & Mug] on December 27
Michael was going to look into the PayPal funding stretch goals - but *if* the KS doesn't make it by itself, ALL PayPal monies HAVE to be refunded.
Creator PaulB on December 27
@Lee - Thanks, much appreciated :)
Creator Andrew Dickson [Smug mode 'ON' :o)] on December 27
@ Lee - Nice one matey. Every contribution is a decent one.
Creator Steven Moore on December 27
@Stephen Usher... It looks like I'll be spending tonight looking at joysticks then!!
Creator Tors on December 27
Would be cool if you could deploy some kind of space probes with messages (text/audio/credits) in space and/or on planets.
Then you could arrange in-game treasure hunts and stuff :)
Creator Harbinger [god-like] on December 27
@Philip Konczak: You can get the originals for free as shareware (http://www.eliteclub.org.uk/) or maybe try OOlite (http://www.oolite.org/) or Pioneer (http://pioneerspacesim.net/)

@Steven Moore It works with a joystick. That will help.
Creator Cmdr. Bond [DDF Member + Ship ID & Mug] on December 27
Change of subject - does anyone know how to use a joystick / gamepad with glfrontier or FFED3D?
I can't get mine working
Creator Lee Cotterill on December 27
Just upped my pledge to £50, cant afford more but i think its a decent contribution?
