@Andreas and THAT is the best outcome. You can reset from year dot offline and experiment away with no consequences. Perfect for offline. :-)
Creator Nats on December 11
@ChrisB Like I keep saying Skyrim hasnt been hurt at all by being offline...multiplayer isnt all that great it really isnt. Not if it means losing a major part of the gameplay as a result.
Creator Andreas M [on flight FD-4N4C to Lave] on December 11
@Nats - Same here; I guess we have to live with separated save games then unless FD come up with a good solution...
Creator Lars Jørgen Kire[Lortsamler] on December 11
I am also one of those that want the full experience with the dynamic galaxy,and all :) but i do support those that wish for a SP offline mode.
Creator Associat0r [Space is Blue] on December 11
Ok now let's move on to seamless planetary transitions.
Creator amigacooke [TinyKeep] on December 11
Anyway, today's update, I'm hoping that it will show happy Igor saving his game in both single and multie player modes while simultaneously landing on a planet and coding the game as we watch.
'
Otherwise it will be a second class update ;-)
Creator Gaz Bailey [HappyMonday @FD Forum] on December 11
@ChrisB I'm hugely looking forward to it too,for the record.We must get this KS over 1 million in quick time.
Creator karlchen on December 11
Just checked the FAQ.. but didn't find me question.
So @FD@Michael:
Will there be multilingual support?
If not - maybe as a stretch goal?
Or at least will E:D be designed with multilingual support in mind so that you can support foreign languages as a Servicepack afterwards ?
-----
While english is very common and a lot "Not Natives" understand it, E:D seems to get more deep as common casual games and it seems too that it would be very important that you exactly know what you (can) do! Because of this I think native support for foreign languages will encrease the game experience a lot!
Creator Styggron [ELITE VETERAN SINCE 1985] on December 11
@Lars TOTALLY and completely !!!! The best outcome THANKS to Michael for chasing it up and for David. :-)
Creator B1gdeano [Elite:Dangerous - A Reality!] on December 11
I just think everyone should ignore all posts by Taumel. he is out to annoy and enflame people here
He has nothing of interest or validity to say, just preferes to attack others, turn new info into negatvity and genereally bitch about things.
As they saying goes, dont feed the troll
I for one will no longer be paying him any heed, even if he is getting on my tits
Creator Greg Marsden on December 11
@Alien
I think you got me mixed up with someone else.
I want full internet connection and a dynamic universe with real interaction. True to DB's vision.
I dont want ELITE 1984 with better graphics.
It would be nice if they could please the people who want single player stand alone but if it cant be done it cant be done. They dont seem to have a problem with internet connection as far as I can tell. They spam the comments section with the same point every five mins
Creator Chris B on December 11
/rant
Morning all :)
Creator Chris B on December 11
@Jason Totally agree. Imagine if DB had come out and said oh yeah we're making the new Elite, but it won't have any Internet or MP features at all. The flack he'd get for not getting with the times, embracing technology etc. It would be a major disappointment.
I just want to re-assure FD, that there are a significant number of us who ARE LOOKING FORWARD to being online in a MP galaxy.
Creator OriginalBadBoy on December 11
In the end this is no different from any other game with a mulitplayer or online aspect ... for example you have a football game where you can download the latest transfers list, if you don't then your game is 'outdated', but it doesn't stop you playing the game.
Same with this, if you don't sync then you will just get the raw 'Elite' expereince 'out of the box' as it were, otherweise you will get a richer experience if you do connect. I don't see any issues with that. You pays your money you take your choice.
As long as the SP game gets updated in line with updates to the main game, that's all that matters. We are not talking having to have a permenant connection to the 'universe' here, what we are talking about is taking bits and pieces of information (i.e. transfer lists on the football analergy), so that the game seems like its evolving ...
Creator Jason S on December 11
@taumel
No idea on that one, but this is Elite, the comments show a dedicated following.
Creator Nats on December 11
@Andreas I would love to see them just split the game completely in two - one multiplayer with developing universe and one single player offline with stardreamer. How hard can it be? The AI etc would be needed for both anyway? The only problem would be once you player the single player you could never use that pilot to connect online, big deal!
Creator taumel on December 11
oops mid of course
Creator Iain Nicholls on December 11
@Taumel - stop moaning unless you think it will have a positive effect. I'm sure eveyone has got the message and carrying on doesn't have a postive effect - what for instance would be good for you in multiplayer that you haven't seen in other games?
@ Taumel (and everyone) I'm not into multiplayer games either but this evolving universe could be brilliant. If modding type tools are available (at a later date) I would love to be able to start off building things like a space station, leave them for a few days and come back and see if anyone else has added to the design so it could grow a bit like a Sim City space station thats out of control !! Or being able to modify landscapes on planets. so it would be an evolving universe not just economically and politically but graphically.This is very ambitious I know but if its somehow possible later on down the line it would be great. Possibly leaving a door open in the way things are coded at early development stage to allow this sort of adaptation to be bolted on if it becomes super successful would be all thats needed I think (not being a programmer but having experience in development).
Creator Andreas M [on flight FD-4N4C to Lave] on December 11
@Gregory - you better adjust your stardreamer, we already have December, 11th... This is what happens when you mess with time in a MMORPG like this ;-)
Creator taumel on December 11
@Jason
You don't know how many smaller multiplayer titles fail on the market in the mod/long-term, right?
Creator Jason S on December 11
Yea over 700,000 by the time I have had lunch I rekon
Creator Lars Jørgen Kire[Lortsamler] on December 11
@Styggron: I am happy we got this question cleared up :)
Creator Associat0r [Space is Blue] on December 11
@Alien - I will most likely play in online mode most of the time, I'm just saying that if there is going to be a full offline mode I want it to be a proper interesting one in it's own right and not a second class citizen.
Creator Styggron [ELITE VETERAN SINCE 1985] on December 11
@Jason totally. They listen and yes they are doing everything they can! I am just buzzing ! It was gloom for me and other SP's but that is GONE...... you watch that amount rise right up !!!
Creator Gaz Bailey [HappyMonday @FD Forum] on December 11
Now that hurdle's out the way,can I ask everybody to that can to hammer their social media with the next dev diary BEFORE we all get bogged down pulling it apart here?
Creator Alien on December 11
@Gregory - re-read your previous post
Creator Jason S on December 11
We live in an internet age, seems right the game is well into the multi player changing universe, full of waves of player induced events. Personally unless a game is heavy RTS, I really want the MP and player driven universe. I think the direction is great. Not sure I like steam though, but it is not going to be steam, just a direct download that connects to frontiers servers, which is cool.
Creator Greg Marsden on December 11
@Alien.
Why do you think im living in the past?
Creator Morten Fink Eriksen [Maxeren] on December 11
@B1gdeano: Some try :)
Creator Styggron [ELITE VETERAN SINCE 1985] on December 11
@gregory ummm not at all. My major issue is solved I will go back to the supportive and helpful person I have always been. We just got through a MAJOR hurdle so many were worried about and now we are totally safe! Wait till Liqua finds out he will put his £1500 back. :-)
Creator Andreas M [on flight FD-4N4C to Lave] on December 11
@Nats - I also don't like the intended absence of star dreamer but with the option of an always offline SP mode there is at least hope that it *could* work in these games. Hell, some modders may take care of that for us later ;-)
Creator Associat0r [Space is Blue] on December 11
@Eric - Yes I'm fine with that
Creator Alien on December 11
@Associat0r - sheesh, now you're not happy
FRONTIER - JUST MAKE THE DAMN GAME
Creator Nicholas Hansen on December 11
@Jason. Ha ha! My snow shovel better come in MP/SP mode
Creator B1gdeano [Elite:Dangerous - A Reality!] on December 11
@Associator
Then play it online then!
You cant have your cake and eat it, sorry chap
Creator Alien on December 11
@Gregory - another one living in the past ... How are you communicating with the future?
Creator Associat0r [Space is Blue] on December 11
@B1gdeano - I'm not happy with a less interesting game world in offline mode.
Creator Alien on December 11
@Styggron - all I meant was, Michael gave you an answer ... if you don't want to play MP, you don't have to
Creator Eric on December 11
@Associat0r
They probably will be. The point Michael/DB/FD is trying to make is that the experience will not be as interesting because unless FD has secretly been developing TRUE AI these simulations will never be as fun as what real people can bring to the table.
Creator Greg Marsden on December 11
I think its pretty clear tha Styggon and Taumel plan to spam the shit out of us until Dec 5th.
Creator Morten Fink Eriksen [Maxeren] on December 11
Hmmm... wonder if liqua will raise his pledge again on top of this
Creator Jason S on December 11
From their just made announcement, they seem to be wanting to make the best game possible, or at least what they and probably the majority think is best.
Creator Nats on December 11
@Andy I seriously dont know whether I want this game or not because I actually dont know what the heck I will be getting. I am thinking it might be better to just buy the damn thing later if I like the look of it. I just want to play an updated Frontier. I dont want multiplayer or a 'changing universe' whatever that means, I just dont have time to play games that much these days that it will make any difference to my game. I will probably leave my pledge in because Frontier was a great game and I wouldnt want to jeopardise this project but I am not as enthusiastic about it without the stardreamer and true offline play than I was.
Creator Styggron [ELITE VETERAN SINCE 1985] on December 11
@Alien I totally accept and understand MP will be far richer experience. Fully understand that but chances are the answer is still no on that one sorry.
Creator B1gdeano [Elite:Dangerous - A Reality!] on December 11
@Tuamel
It has been stated that playing it offline will result in a less interesting game world. But that is fine with the people that have been asking for this
It was also stated that you may not be able to synch your offline game with the servers
So what are your comments about now, other that to start a campaign of negativity over that now?
Creator Styggron [ELITE VETERAN SINCE 1985] on December 11
@Eric NO I wouldn't say that I would have pulled out completely and others I know would have too, it was a deal breaker. because the info was not precise many were worried of either always online SP or having to be FORCED to sync.
Now this is clear and I know there is no steam, no pay to win, no subscription NOTHING will stop me going ahead. :-) Man this is just awesome ! Sorry I'm an ELITE nerd I'm so happy................
Creator Alien on December 11
@Gaz - I ain't telling them ... they hate me already.
Creator OriginalBadBoy on December 11
@B1gdeano - Yeah thats how I read it .. which to be fair is how it should be .. You have your offline save game(s) that you are toying around with, and you then have a 'different' career (if thats the right word) for the MP, not a different pilot , but a different career, as in money, ship, missions, accomplishments etc.
Bit like how Minecraft works where you can have offlien worlds , but then at the same time go online with other worlds as well ...
There might be some crossover between the two for various thnigs, otherwise they will be kept seperate.
Creator Associat0r [Space is Blue] on December 11
@Eric - but why can't the intended experience not be simulated with NPC AI?
Creator B1gdeano [Elite:Dangerous - A Reality!] on December 11
And there is is @styggron
Clear as day directly to you mate!
Best get the best china out, its time for a party!
