13 days to go. Have some tour dates (for Daron, not me)
OMG, we're getting close! Over the weekend the tally reached $1,650. That means we're only $1,100 from the goal with 13 days to go!
Another way to think of it: only about 40 more people have to pre-order the book and off we'll go! You folks are amazing not only for giving to support the project but for helping spread the word. We're not all made of money, I know, so casting the net wide is important to reach those couple of people here and there who think Daron's cool and have the cash to spare. Quite literally I couldn't do it alone, and so thank you thank you thank you.
To spread the word about the project, I guest-blogged this weekend at Ryan Field's blog about romance and realism, to add to the one I already did at Mary Anne Mohanraj's blog about how writing about the world of rock and roll is a lot like writing science fiction. (Links below.) Several more guest blogs and chats are coming up this week, including one about how if a short story is like a one-night stand, a serial is a long-term relationship. I'll link to them in a future update. Today (Tuesday) I'll be chatting at Beth Wylde's Yahoo Group about the project and writing in general. To spice up today's update, I thought I'd give everyone a sneak peak at the "tour dates" coming up in the current part of the serial.
The tour is closely based on actual tour dates of a band that toured in 1989 and 1990, so the venues are named as they were named then. Can you guess which one?
Many of the venues have since been either torn down or re-named because of naming rights sales or changes in ownership. "Great Woods" is now called the "Tweeter Center" for example, while the "San Diego Sports Arena" is now called the "Valley View Casino Center."

The problem with printing on the front and back of the shirts is it doubles the price. I only budgeted for printing on one side! Duh.
