Why we want to exist
To save the world...from fruitcakes and ties. (boring gifts)
We plan to open an online store where you can have randomly chosen gifts sent to yourself or anyone you want and then wait in suspense to find out what the gift is. These random gifts are exciting, unexpected, and imaginative in a good but unconventional way. They will surprise and entertain both you and the receiver.

* Friends who don’t mind that you didn’t put any thought into their gift
* Friends who are cool enough to realize that you did put some thought into it and this is what you chose

How it works:
The whole process will be done in five easy steps.
First : Select your level of randomness.
You can select “Totally Random”, which means that your gift will be randomly selected by Randor (our random selection algorithm). You can select “Semi Random”, which means that you can tell Randor a few categories of things that you don’t want.
Second : Spend a little bit of your dough
Choose between a level I gift or a level II gift. Remember, even with a random gift, it's a chance to say I like you this-many-dollar's-worth.
Third : Wait patiently for your gift to arrive.
This will be the hardest step, not because of the time (we ship very quickly) but because you won’t be able to stop wondering what the gift is. You’ll think to yourself, “Is it a remote control helicopter? A cactus? A banjo?” When the gift arrives on your doorstep (or the doorstep of the lucky person to whom you sent it) it will arrive in an attractive Random Store box. And that brings us to the next step.
Fourth : Rip open the dang thing.
You’ve waited patiently, now you get to see what awesome gift The Random Store sent. Best of all, since neither you nor the gift-getter know what’s in the box, it gets to be a surprise for both of you.
Fifth (Optional) : Interact with us and The Random Store community.
Contact us and tell us what you think of the whole experience. Post a video on YouTube of your gift-getter receiving the random gift. And lastly, tell everyone you know about how we’re a sparkling gem in the dull world of online gifts and e-commerce.
Examples of random gifts:
We go to a lot of trouble selecting the random gifts that we use. We scour the internet for fun, unique, and occasionally educational products. We try them out personally and if we like them, we add them to our inventory. We always hesitate a bit to list examples because, given the nature of our store, you're almost guaranteed to not get one of things we mention. However, some specific things we use include: Flying Screaming Slingshot Monkeys, a do-it-yourself blood type test kit, a teach yourself Tai Chi DVD, an Edgar Allen Poe action figure, a ninja clock, and cupcake flavored floss. They're things you never knew you always wanted.
Pitch video and other commercials: We had a lot of fun filming the above pitch video for Kickstarter. We almost refilmed a commercial we worked on before for The Random Store. We ended up not using it for Kickstarter, but we thought we could still show it to you. We thought it would be funny to film a commercial that included a guy who, for no explanation, has limp noodly arms. Here's the main video and a footage of us dancing on set.

Lastly, for those of you curious what we'll use the money for, it's to finish development of the website and commission work on a 3D animation to be used on the site.

Pledge $30 or more
We wrap you up a level II gift from The Random Store and send it to the person of your choice. We can include a custom message. Level II gifts are the same kinds of things as level I, just from a slightly higher price category. You also get everything from the $10 pledge.
Pledge $80 or more
You get level I & level II gifts from The Random Store, a Random Store t-shirt, the acknowledgement page, and get insider access to our website. You get to vote on products to be included in The Random Store, get first crack at new services we roll out, and get preferred customer status (discounts, specials, etc).
Pledge $100 or more
The Random Store Designer - Everything included in the $80 pledge, plus you actually get to choose a gift to be included in our inventory to be sent out in random gifts all over the world. (Of course we still have to sign off on the gift)
Pledge $196 or more
Everything included in the $100 pledge, plus you get to be in one of our commercials! You'll either need to arrange to be in Athens, GA when we shoot (TBD), or we'll work with you so that you can record your part on your own, without making the trip here. We'll write and direct it, but of course you'll have some influence over your role.
Pledge $250 or more
The Holiday Special - You get all the stuff from the $100 package , plus four more level II gifts from The Random Store (for a total of 1 level I gift and 5 level II gifts). All the gifts will be gift wrapped. We can hold these gifts until December if you like and can send them all to different places with individualized personal messages.
Pledge $500 or more
The Year of Randomness - You get all of the stuff from the $100 package, plus 12 more level II random gifts. You get the level I and level II gifts right away, but these 12 additional gifts will be sent to you once a month over the next year. They'll arrive gift wrapped and on a random day of the month. It's like having a mysterious stalker who sends you surprise gifts, but a lot less creepy!
