We have been growing our business organically since we baked that first gluten free wedding cake in spring of 2011. We've established d:floured as part of the Seattle gluten free community support network, and are working on the next natural step for our business – the long-awaited retail location! There is a huge need for gluten free here in Seattle, and we want to fulfill the demand. With Phebe's baking prowess and Amanda's marketing and customer service skills, we promise that we'll be your new favorite GF!
Most of our kickstarter awards can be fulfilled immediately, as we currently have a shared commercial kitchen (just not our own!) and can get your cookies right to you, or schedule your baking class!
What about the bakery itself? We've set ourselves an aggressive timeline for raising funds and completing the bakery by April 2013. We face many potential setbacks: what if we find water damage in the walls? (Knock on wood!) What if our gluten free certification is slow in being processed? We're taking the project one day at a time, and facing each challenge as it arises. Through the entire build-out process, we're continuing to produce the same delicious breads, cookies and cakes from our shared kitchen space, so there will be no lapse in production of goodies at our farmers markets.
We're excited for new challenges that come with growth.
