And though the script is not yet completed, we know there will be at least five of these characters who will need names. And one of those names can belong to YOU! RED SHIRT!! We all know if a Star Trek crew member is wearing a red uniform, he or she will be the first to be phasered, engulfed by a deadly cloud creature, take a plasma blast head on, or otherwise be killed in a horrible manner. So, why not YOU? Or a friend, or a not-so-friend. Not real phasers or clouds or plasma blasts of course, but in our film. Yes, you can be the one redshirt that dies dramatically on screen. Though our characters will not be wearing the TOS era red uniforms, everyone will know the redshirt when he or she appears. Some good screen time, high drama, intense emotion - you get the idea. You must be available for specific shooting dates in the LA area (TBD Spring 2013) and transportation and lodging is not included. Redshirt role is a STAND ALONE REWARD. Fingers crossed, some of the stretch funding can go towards proper film or tape. I know digital is quicker and easier to edit..., but look at how much better Superman looked compared to Superman Returns. Either way, best of luck!

@Polaris Penguin: Well, if they still haven't gotten around to fixing the holes in the KDF, then I guess that I'll have to continue to wait on returning. That was one of my biggest gripes about STO and if they can't bother to keep a promise over a year or two later I don't believe that they'll ever be. Call me cynical, but I've seen it all during the first couple years of release and I can't bear to return to a half-finished game.

@Serena S7 on STO seemed Ok and is probably one of the better updates along with starbases which made being part of a fleet mean something, but they still haven't addressed the KDF properly. I was enjoying S7, but have been caught up in this Kickstarter game with both Star Citizen and now especially Elite Dangerous which along with Star Trek got me interested in astronomy and space. YMMV as for as STO goes.

Congrats to the Renegade Team. Can't wait to see how it will turn out. I agree with Serena that the last Trek movie wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. JJ is a great director but the light glare he puts in as a special effect adds a strange feel to the movie, plus the bridge was to futuristic - even for the Enterprise. Just my opinion though. One additional characteristic about Star Trek that I miss, especially in the last movie, is the hidden moral message that is usually in each episode or movie. Perhaps it's just me. Can wait to see what you do with Renegades.

@Serena, Bob: Haha, I didn't mean you, my friends! While I had not previously discussed Palindrome Bob's fandom with him (and if I had, I apologize, my memory can be faulty at times), I was certain that Serena would far outrank me :-) Truly, I'd meant the legion of over a thousand Chief Petty Officers, of which one did post as unable to move up (which is fine.... we would only have needed one in three!). At the end of the day, however the stretch goal was a bit silly... "Make the show better by $50K (minus fees)!". I feel like we did earn a mighty stretch goal; "Make the show better by $42.5K (minus fees)!"

Be watching this and finally caved and backed at $25. I'd love to go to $75 but I just don't have it at the moment. I am so surprised this KS hasn't done better than it has. I'm still a little shocked and saddened how 8,000 people can "Like" this project but only 2.3k are backers and that with such a MASSIVE, truly MASSIVE following around the world for Star Trek in general that only 2.3k people are willing to part with (at the very least) the price of a pizza to see this film get made..
..I'm trying to stay positive but it's just too darn weird for me... such a massive franchise and so little support? Wtf?

Chief Petty Officer SD, reporting for duty! I'm pleased to announce my new Doctor's Commission, all-digital, and full of amazing advetures. If approximately 30% of my rank (303 other CPO's, out of 1139 strong) did so as well, this operation would reach it's enhanced fuel level at $250K. Both tiers (CPO and Doc Zimmerman) are fully digital, leaving the maximum amount to the project, as less will be spent on physical rewards (and of course, the requisite interstellar shipping expenses).
This is a volunteer effort. Not every CPO will be able or willing, but if enough do, we'll have reached an amazing goal! Will any others join me?
