Nature Boy is the story of an ex tennis champion named Nate Fox who finds himself washed up and disconnected in his home town at age 33. Nate has no cell phone, no Facebook account, no direction, a handful of local friends and a probation officer. He splits his time between the local dive bar, a townie named Pam's apartment, and the tennis courts where he watches over his ailing tennis coach Ray Barrette. When coach's condition takes a turn for the worse, Nate is forced to evaluate his life and find an inner strength. Can Nate build a bridge from the broken dreams of his past into a brighter future? Nature Boy is an independent drama told from the heart of a small town.

Nature Boy is a once in a lifetime chance to make an indie film starring your best friends. Events have come together at Chops Films that make us believe we can successfully execute a small production in our hometown of Palo Alto. We've covered our bases and followed the small budget film "rules." We've generated a character driven script with no major production hurdles (no helicopter crashes, no car chases, no burning men jumping out of buildings.) We have no monstrous equipment needs, no big actor budgets and no unshootable locations. We live around a group of beautiful and trusted childhood friends who are available and eager to lend their talents to a picture. Recent innovations in camera technology allow us to shoot a high quality image at a very low cost. We can also edit in house on a powerful home system. We have a picturesque town and a supportive community to shoot in. 

With a fraction of what it cost us to make a feature movie in 2006, we can shoot a complete and evocative independent film today in 2011 . We think the conditions are right to make a memorable and stunning piece of art that marks this era in our lives forever. The technology is here and more importantly so is the vision.
