"every lunge a statement”-Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice
Friends!
Thank you for taking the time to check out our Kickstarter Campaign. Your contributions will help finance the production and performance of our first evening-length work, the supper, which will premiere at Triskelion Arts in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, September 8-10, 2011. Most importantly, your generosity will go directly to paying the artists who have worked so incredibly hard to make this project possible.
For the past two years, we have been creating a collaboration of lighting, electronic sound, costume, and choreography. And, what we have now is a compelling, multi-faceted idea that we are ready to share.
So, here is some more info on what we have been up to:
The Supper
THE SCENE: a secret experiment, a mind-testing laboratory disguised as a dinner party for 6 "guests" who are unaware of their situation. The "party" shifts between a stark laboratory environment and a lavish palace ambiance.
THE SUBJECT MATTER: the piece exposes the forces that underline human behavior. It moves
seamlessly between realism and abstraction, merging non-concrete and
"recognizable person" gesture. It ultimately surveys the spheres
and expressions of identity and illustrates the inquiries into perception and
truth.
Our goal is to promote communication. We are committed to breaking down the rigid wall that commonly detaches us from one
another; the wall that stops us from asking questions and seeking answers. With the supper, we are aiming to eliminate the tight grip of expectation by replacing it with
improvisation, freedom, risk, and evolution.
shadows, neurology, kings and queens, manipulation, control, forks, knives, pillows, guns, bandages, closets, exposure, soldiers, a birdcage, a memory: are being taken into consideration for this project.
