About this project
The Plan:
Our biggest hope for 'Blackbook: The Series' is to make a quality, cohesive collection of films that will serve to provoke questions in the minds of the viewers while providing intriguing entertainment at the same time. As said in the above video, we hope to one day glue all the episodes together into one full length feature film. We have completed what is to be the second episode entitled 'Blackbook: The Egg' which you can see below here.
What will it cost?:
Filmmaking is an expensive venture which is quite paradoxical in relation to most other art forms. We've drawn up a preliminary budget and you can see that the grip truck rental alone already takes a hefty chunk of the budget away.
- Grip truck rental - $2000
- Camera equipment - $150
- Art - $200
- Wardrobe - $300
- Catering - $400
- Dolly rental - $550, Track - $150
- Initial total budget - $3750
A little bit about ourselves:
Making movies is very much a collaborative process and is impossible to do alone, which is why we would like to introduce you to the writer/director, cinematographer, one of the producers and composer of the music of 'Blackbook: The Series'.
John Leones is the writer and director of 'Blackbook: The Series' and has for the past ten-plus years had one thing on his mind and one thing only, to become a filmmaker. He has since then poured over movies from every continent gaining an intimate knowledge of cinematic story-telling techniques which he has translated into a style all his own. John has made three short films prior to undertaking the 'Blackbook' project and has crewed on several other films in various positions.
Luke Malone is the cinematographer for 'Blackbook: The Series'. He has been working on films for the past 10 years and has learned a lot that comes with the process of shooting them. Luke has had the pleasure to work on all sorts of projects ranging from music videos, commercials, short films and has even had the chance to work on two feature films. He has a great knowledge of the equipment including professional cameras such as the RED, and all the new DSLR's that have become so popular over the past couple of years. For his future in the film industry, he plans on eventually becoming a Director/Producer and creating a name for himself through his company ALONE WOLF PICTURES. For links to his prior work check his imdb page out here, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3918432/.
Mike Kleinschmidt is the music composer of the series. He grew up in Chandler, AZ and started piano lessons at age five, ending up playing in several different churches growing up. In 2003 he toured with Warner Brothers recording artists William Joseph, Josh Groban, and Lucia Micarelli all of which were produced by David Foster. In 2008 Mike worked for "4kids Entertainment" out of New York as a music editor for a children's cartoon called "GoGoRiki". For the past six years he has been working in downtown Phoenix as an engineer and DJ of Downtempo and jazz. He has written a ton of electronic music and hopes to be a piano teacher, film composer, and electronic DJ before it's all said and done.
