About this project
Chilean filmmaker Pedro Pablo Celedón follows Cuban artist Llane Dominguez to his hometown Habana to discover local designers young and old. In this year's fashion version of Buena Vista Social Club, Llane and his partner, designer Matt Dick, show their collection and collaborate with several generations of designers and craft artists.
The money raised via Kickstarter will cover production expenses over the three-week shoot, as well as paying for small gifts of currently unobtainable tools and materials for the local craftspeople.
THIS CAMPAIGN IS ALL OR NOTHING: If donors like you collectively pledge at least $16,000, we get to keep it. If the collective donor pledges do not meet the $16,000 goal, we will not get to keep any of the funds pledged. If you are behind us, please help spread the word by sending emails, posting on social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter), and talking to people the old-fashioned way about this project.
Hand Made in Habana is the magical collaboration of a group of diverse, passionately creative individuals working together to explore the beauty, meaning and authenticity of the crafts in everyday Cuba. Join us as we discover how an isolated community of craftsmen and women, with no resources, have created a vibrant tradition and much needed source of income in the crumbling mansiones and teeming streets of Old Habana.
Many thanks, in advance, for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Pedro Pablo Celedón
