The Blue Painted Wagon Lullaby Storybook for children. Kids are calmed, learn to sight read, and become ready to go to sleep.
This Kickstarter project is about creating the Art and Music for the first song of the Lullaby Storybook series, and creating the first Lullaby Storybook.
Art and Music combine to soothe and calm a baby or child, to get them ready for sleep. It is about quality time between parent and child, time to enjoy a few moments of gentle music and art before resting.
Who we are:
We are a group of creative people, who want to put something good into the world. Our Blue Painted Wagon Project is the current object of our attention. We are centered in Nashville, Tennessee. We are Nashville SongWriters, Baby Photographers, Music Producers, Web Developers. We love children. Two of the SongWriters are professional song writers with long track records (each over 20 years) and many cuts of their songs in a variety of genres. The third SongWriter has been writing songs for over 6 years, and is also an accomplished photographer and fine artist.
Lee Ann Burgess
Songs cut by major artists which were written by these three songwriters include, but are certainly not limited to:
"Road to Surrender"
Randy Travis with Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristopherson
"I'm Not the Bride"
"All in a Day"
John Michael Montgomery
"I Just came Back to Say Goodbye"
"Where I'm Bound"
Lee Ann Burgess
Lee Ann has been a professional photographer for all of her adult life. Her business here in Nashville focused mainly on babies and children. These days she is concentrating on web development and fine art.
Below are samples of her painting:
We have written Eight Lullabies so far for our Lullaby Storybook collection. Only one Lullaby has been recorded, with guitar and vocals. More instrumentation is needed, and then the recording is finished by mixing and mastering.
We would like to record all of them and create the art that goes with each Lullaby to make a collection of Lullaby Storybooks.
Here is a sample of the first verse and chorus of "Blue Painted Wagon":
The song "Blue Painted Wagon" is sung sweetly by Patricia Conroy, accompanied by the great Michael Spriggs on guitar. We will use funding to add more instrumentation to the song, but we will keep it simple, and gentle, as Lullabies should always be.
Both Daryl and Angie have recorded many hundreds of songs here in Nashville over the years. We know the best players, and we know how to manage a recording session, and a recording budget. Daryl has produced sessions for his own music, for the recording projects of other artists and songwriters, and for his songs meant to be covered by other artists.
This Kickstarter project is all about creating the first Lullaby Storybook, but it isn't limited. Depending upon funding received, we will use funds to create more Lullaby Storybooks.
In the Pipeline:
To give you a brief idea of where we are going with this, here is a preliminary layout panel (rough sketch) of a series of pages from "Daddy Loves You".
Here you can listen to a "work tape" of the song "Daddy Loves You". This adventure is about a little boy whose Daddy takes care of him no matter what, day or night.
This work tape was made on the day this song was written, recorded simply into a laptop for posterity, and sung gently by Daryl Burgess.
The art for the Lullaby Storybooks will be inspired by famous artists' paintings which we choose for color palette and style. We envision using some wonderful contemporary illustrative and fine artists we have found during our research phase for future Apps. We will give them an Artist's inspiration painting reference for the style and palette of the Lullaby Storybook they will be working on.
Artist's we would like to take inspiration from include Renoir, Diego Rivera, and Mary Cassatt. Children will be shown a very brief bio of the inspiration artist at the end of each Lullaby Storybook. This is a moment for parents to take, if they so desire, to talk about the color palette and the artist's style. A very gentle lesson in fine art, appropriate for tiny eyes and tiny ears.
We believe that all children can appreciate and learn about art and music, and that giving very young children well crafted art to look at, and well written, well recorded music to listen to is worthwhile.
Each Lullaby we have written, and will write, is written about the bond of love between parents and children, and children and parents. To us, Lullabies are all about Love, Safety, Trust, and more Love.
These messages are what will soothe babies and children, relaxing them when they are stressed, getting them ready for sleep.
Our Lullabies will be recorded by us, professionally, here in Nashville. We know the best players, and Daryl has produced many hundreds of songs, both his own and for other artist's projects. Daryl is a top notch studio drummer, piano player, and vocalist. He may sing one or more of the Lullabies. You can hear Daryl's voice on the sample of "Daddy Loves You".
Diversity is important to us. We intend to show that our protagonists come in all colors. We will also have both boys and girls represented as protagonists. One of the Apps we plan to produce is inspired by a Diego Rivera painting, another is inspired by a Renoir, but the protagonist will be a little African-American girl about 1 year old. (Twinkle Toes).
Additional Lullaby Storybooks
If this project is funded fully and additional funds are pledged, we will use those funds to create more Lullaby Storybooks from our cache of Lullaby Storybook storyboards and songs, and from Lullabies we have titles for, but have yet to write.
We want to thank you for taking the time to consider our project. We hope that you will see the potential that soothing music and art in the form of an App for babies and children has to keep the children and their parents, happy and rested, and to give them time to enjoy music and art together.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The App market is very competitive. We feel, however, that we have an amazing product idea, which is unique. We already have people approaching us for use of the Lullaby Storybooks for kids with learning disabilities. Because the words will light up, and music is involved, learning to sight read will be enhanced over regular reading.
Our biggest challenge is letting people know about this App. Everyone who finds out about it thinks that it is a beautiful thing. If you are reading this, then you are the key to getting the word out. You can help by posting a link to this project on your facebook page.
If you have any questions about this project, please don't hesitate to contact us.
