Update #1: Conference Update: Glappit Baby

Glappit is an interest based network having unique conferences, festivals, and publications. Our mission is to enhance, gather, and showcase young innovators within any professional or creative fields. Our market is the 21 through 34 year olds and was founded by Nicholas Brown & Michael Webb.

Our goal is to raise money to have our first conference in Chicago in September 2012.

Why should you contribute?

  • When the funds are raised you can watch “the founder” run on Lake Shore Drive’s bike path for 5 miles in a Sumo Wrestler costume from your mobile device or computer live.
  • By contributing, you will be assisting young innovators striving to change the world one conference at a time.
  • You will also become part of our growing Generation C community.

What is The Deal?

If our pledge goal is reached, we will have the conference and the founder will conduct what we call a “Sumo Run”. He will run 5 miles on the bike path of Lake Shore Drive wearing a Sumo Wrestler costume while being streamed live on Glappit. At each mile checkpoint, "that founder guy" will pose for the camera "creative Sumo style”. You will be able to view those images through Glappit's twitter feed.

Oh Really?

Yes, really. If you like to run feel free to join but it is not required. If you like to laugh just watch the live feed of the run at www.glappit.com. If you want this to happen, please pledge so that we may reach our financial goal.

The Conference?

The concept of the conference will be all about Business, Social Media, and Design. All speakers have 5 minutes to share/present an idea in the coolest and most informational way relating to those topics. The speakers will consist of individuals just like you. They could be your co-workers, or that young CEO under 35. The audience will vote on the best presentation, and the winner receives a prize. At the conclusion of the presentations there will definitely be fist pumping, smooth criminal moves, and a few drinks on the rocks for networking. The award will be presented near the closing of the conference, and you will leave with some cool stories.

So, you want to speak?

There will be 8 speakers within the 21-35 age group. If you think you have a cool or innovative story to share amongst your peers, send an email to  nick@glappit.com  cc mike@glappit.com  with Business, Social Media, or Design in the subject header. They will respond with the necessary information. Speakers will be announced one week before our deadline, on our Kickstarter page and through out our social media streams.

Where do the funds go?

The money raised will provide various equipment rentals at our conference, space reservation, and website development. Our pledge goal is $5,000 but lets exceed that exponentially. Any extra funds will be allocated to make the conference even better and future conferences better than that.

Who in the what, and where?

We will release more updates, videos, progress, and all the necessary information your heart desires as we approach our deadline. The conference will be held in September 2012, and the run will be conducted in August 2012. We can do this everyone. Seriously, we really can, it is ok to laugh at yourself at least once.
