Urbansnake: 21 Years In The Making
Project by Vinny Corvino
We are not rock stars. We are a school teacher, a printer, a cable co. employee, a guidance counselor and a restaurant employee. But our band rocks.
21 years ago, the 3 founding members of Urbansnake made a pact. We were going to push our original music until everyone heard it, or we'd die trying. We had some successes. Then, life happened, and we dealt with all that that entails for some time. In early 2000, when an 8 year old song of ours miraculously received airplay on a major NY FM radio station, we regrouped. This time, we decided we'd do it for the love of it, and that was all. As a result, we find ourselves on the verge of "breaking" bigger, but that takes the kind of support that record labels are no longer offering.
What we want to do: Broaden our audience via more promotion. We just want more people to hear what we do. . .we don't care if we have to keep our day jobs.
How we plan to do it: We want to continue advertising Urbansnake and continue licensing our music to film and gaming, garnering airplay, recording and releasing music and touring.
What the money is for: In an ambitious move, Urbansnake intends to release its next and third CD with a package that rivals the best being released by artists on major labels. We would like this package to include, if possible, 17+ tracks and various multimedia additions. Also, we'd like to make use of some of the same media promotion venues used by the major labels, but that are also costly.
