My name is Zubair A. Hashim and I am an aspiring children’s books author! I am seeking to self-publish, market and promote two of my children’s picture books, Maryam’s Gift and Mustafa’s Passage.

Maryam's Gift:

Maryam has quite an imagination. Let’s imagine with 9-year-old adorable Maryam and discover her priceless gift in Maryam’s Gift (approximately 24 pages). 

Mustafa’s Passage: 

Mustafa had gone to a private Muslim School all of his life. Now Mustafa’s family will move to a new neighborhood and he has to attend a Public School for the first time. How will he adjust to his new school with classmates of different backgrounds? This is a story about an American boy coping with his identity and peer pressure, based on true incidents. Let’s experience Mustafa’s transition from Muslim School to Public School in Mustafa’s Passage (approximately 30 pages).

Funds raised by this Kickstarter project will fund:

1. Publishing of 2 books, Maryam’s Gift and Mustafa’s Passage through a reputable print-on-demand company. We will publish this summer 2012, if we receive full backing. The books will retail for approximately $12 each.
2. Rewards for my pledgees
3. Complete illustrations for Mustafa’s Passage (Illustrations for Maryam’s Gift are complete). Illustrated by Emanuel Word.
4. Logo
5. Website
6. Editing
7. ISBN assignment and barcode placement
8. LCCN/PCN assignment
9. Enrollment in a reputable distribution program that will give my books distribution to online retailers, bookstores, libraries, academic institutions, and distributors within the United States. My books will be available internationally.

Kickstarter operates on an all-or-nothing funding model where projects must be fully funded or no money changes hands. My goal is to raise $7,000 in 30 days… with your support. If I don’t raise $7,000 or more within 30 days all contributions will be returned to the contributors (you) and I will receive nothing. If I exceed $7,000 in contributions, the extra funds will be used for printing and future publications. Now… $7,000 in 30 days is doable. That’s only 200 to 280 people contributing, $25 to $35 or more! The rewards we offer you for your pledges show our gratitude and appreciation for your support.
