About this project
The Voodoo Organist's 7th album, Organeddon, will feature 11 new VO songs, including the lead track "Here Comes Armageddon!" As usual, VO snakes and slithers thru various musical styles including waltzes, mambos, punk jazz, and even krautrock. The result sounds something like Barry Adamson meets LCD Soundsystem with Captain Beefheart at the mic. Or maybe something like Foetus meets Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Organeddon was recorded and mixed at the Voodoo Studio between 12.25.11 - 1.01.12,, and Scott Wexton wrote and performed everything. As a bonus, the cd will include the Voodoo Synthesist album, The Form Destroyer, which is currently only available digitally. New artwork by Aimee Watters will complete the package. It will be a very limited run of 300, and all cds will be hand numbered. These will be real-deal cds - NOT cdrs. Just in time for Armageddon - here comes Organeddon!

In addition to what's already mentioned, you'll get a second new cd, and burned copy of the Screamin' Demons (my band prior to the VO), and i've got a few 7 inches and cassettes from other previous projects. And speaking of cassettes, if my cassette deck still works, i'll even transfer my SAW Music tape to cd (SAW was my experimental solo synth 4 track stuff i did when i was a teenager). So basically the Whole Enchilada is everything that has ever been released that i have been a part of in my entire life.

Frankly, i really don't know. I think my stuff sounds like the Voodoo Organist. But while i was working on mixes, my wife said it kinda sounded like LCD meets Barry, so there you go. Artists that have been in heavy rotation in my stereo in the last year or so include LCD, Fad Gadget, Barry Adamson, Frog Eyes, HEALTH, the Units, Suicide, Can, as well as all time faves like Captain Beefheart, Alien Sex Fiend, the Stranglers, Mort Garson, Sir Julian and Foetus.

Around 600 - 800 to manufacture the cds; 100 for layout; 100 for shipping; a couple hundred for mastering, art, Kickstarter and Amazon takes 10% of the final amount, and shipping all the rewards. As you can see, its a tight budget. If i make anything substantially over the budget, i will invest into other goodies which i will pass on to you - new posters, stickers, shirts, etc.

As you probably know, i am completely DIY. I've booked the vast majority of the 800 nationwide shows myself; the 200 press articles i have on myself were gotten without the help of a publicist. And i have never had funding from a record label. I have already self-funded 6 cds and 2 tour vans (not to mention gear, repairs, etc etc), and now i'm very very broke. I just don't have the money to self fund another cd - but i do have the tunes; so i thought i'd see if you - my fans and friends - could help fund the cd.
-
Actually no. Some of these songs were written/being worked on for years now. If you've seen me live in the last couple of years, you may have heard songs like Here Comes Armageddon!, Not Far Behind and You're a Zombie.

2012 marks the official 10th Anniversary of the Voodoo Organist. Since 2002, VO has played close to 800 shows nationwide, and has received tons of press - almost 200 articles in newspapers and magazines from all over. The vast majority of shows and press were achieved without a booking agent, press agent or manager. VO has self-released 6 cds, and 2 vinyl 7 inch records. VO's music has been used in a few indie movies, including Return of the Living Dead IV and 100 Tears. VO has shared the stage with many great acts, including Hasil Adkins, Black Heart Procession, Bob Log III, Stan Ridgway, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, and even played organ and theremin in Dave Vanian's Phantom Chords. VO's sound is instantly recognizable, yet hard to describe - blending elements of many musical styles including blues, goth, punk, rock and exotica, the Voodoo Organist sounds something like the house band in Satan's Tiki Lounge. Sometimes the Voodoo Organist performs solo; other times with his drummer Robin Kennon. Either way the VO will have you dancing like the Devil.
