141 clever little pieces of literature by 121 authors in 1 exquisite ebook.
Plucky underdog online journal Seven by Twenty is publishing an ebook anthology of work from the journal. Seven by Twenty is an online magazine using Twitter as its publishing platform, for readers at home and on mobile devices. We started publishing weekdaily in July 2009. We specialize in literary and speculative writing that fits in a tweet, which means we mostly publish haiku and related forms (like scifaiku and senryu), and cinquains and American sentences, and very, very, very short stories.
We need $300 to pay for ISBNs and copyright registration. Any extra funds will go toward promoting the book to a wider audience and publishing more ebooks. Upper Rubber Boot Books, the publishing company which was formed to publish this anthology, will specialize in the odd and obscure and already has two books of poetry slated for release after 140 And Counting is published. The planned release date for the ebook is late 2011 or early 2012.
I wrote about this a little in my project update #1. I have a lot of ideas for promotion which I didn't include in the original funding total because I figured if I made enough to pay necessary expenses like copyright registration and ISBNs, I could promote in a lot of places for free online, and then use whatever profits I made from the sale of the book for promotions - which would have worked, I think, but been much slower than the promotional opportunities afforded by being able to afford more targeted advertising at larger audiences, especially on Facebook, Goodreads, Kindle Nation and Project Wonderful. I also want to print business card sized ads that I can mail to my authors to pass out at readings or to interested friends who don't use the usual social networking places. I am pretty excited about the possibilities.
