About this project
The Gathering is an indie anthology series with each issue dedicated to a specific theme. 'Hope', 'Despair', and 'Heroes' are the first three planned installments with Volume One set for a July release date.
Some of the stories contained in the first issue range from a man facing the very real reality of a cancer scare to a young boy hoping to finally connect on a pitch in his baseball game and a bullied kid finding comfort in reading the adventures of his favorite super hero.
Over twenty talented creators have contributed to the book. Some are adding to their professional credentials but most of the others are seeing their work in print for the first time. One of the major goals of putting this book together was to give new creators a chance to shine and have their work discovered. The next several issues of Gathering will continue to feauture a mix of people who have worked in comics before and those for whom it's only been a dream.
The successful financing of the first three installments will allow us to experiment with different formats in the future including continuing story arcs and self contained issues as I am anxious to continue publishing installments past Volume 3, as well as offering up and coming creators an opportunity to have their work featured in future editions.
Each issue is 32 standard comic book pages with full color covers and black and white interiors.
With your help I can reach my goal of 2500 dollars which will enable me to fund the printing for the next two volumes of Gathering as well as create promotional materials (including advertising, flyers and trade show appearances)

I have been a freelance writer for a number of years working on projects for both Marvel (Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe) and DC/Eaglemoss (DC Super Hero Magazine) publications as well as Random House (Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia). I'm also a life long comic book fan who has long hoped for the opportunity to publish my own work and help other creative minds do the same. GrayHaven/The Gathering is the opportunity for me and other creators to see their imaginations reach the printed page. The projects successfully funded by Kickstarter have allowed me to expand GrayHaven beyond anything we could have hoped for back when we first started.
