Production Progress... Strength in Nylon
We're excited to offer an update on the nylon strap assembly. We're moving ahead with this awesome upgrade to the CamCuff and the design has been through a few cycles this week.
To ensure the overall strength of the strap assembly, we've incorporated a braided 10-strand rope as the cord loop. At about 1/8-inch diameter, this rope has super-strength (hundreds of lbs in tensile strength), and remains thin enough to attach securely to most point-and-shoot cameras as well as DSLR rigs.
We've also moved from the solid injected plastic form we posted in earlier updates to a snap assembly that will be moulded in two separate parts. This will improve quality control during manufacture.
Here is a rendering of the new nylon strap assembly's exterior. We'll post photos and video of the stress tests once the prototype arrives.
