A darkly comic thriller about a man experiencing a little writer's block while trying to pen the perfect suicide note.
LOVE LETTER WRITER ETHAN HUNTER PARODIES AMANDA PALMER'S KICKSTARTER VIDEO - Just added! - We love Amanda Palmer and are just a little jealous of her.
BLOOPER REEL - Just added!
LOVE LETTER is an independent feature film shooting this summer in Wilmington, NC. It’s a dark comedy/thriller from award-winning director, Craig Thieman (Emily) and award-winning writer, Ethan Hunter (For Catherine), starring award-winning actor, Nate Panning (Doraleous and Associates, Battlefield Friends), and a whole lot of other super talented people we hope to hire REALLY soon. We’ve been working on the thing for three years now and we are so close to doing something we think could be really special. We just need a little help to get us across the finish line.
THE STORY: Garrett's got a case of writer’s block. It turns out writing the perfect suicide note is not as easy as you might think. And it’s even harder when you're writing it for an ex-girlfriend you’ve got tied up in your garage who, even though she totally deserves what she’s getting, unfairly refuses to sign the letter. Things get more awkward when Garrett accidentally takes the pizza guy and the pizza guy’s sweaty girlfriend hostage after they stubbornly refuse to die from the poison he slips in their drinks. The situation goes from bad to….well...more bad as Barry, the landlord, gets put out that hostages are being held at his property. It sucks, but Garrett may just have to kill everyone.
HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS: Basically, you pledge any amount you want to help make this movie and, if we meet our fundraising goal, you get hip investor rewards and we get to make a flippin’ movie. Look over to the right to see the specific rewards. If we don’t make our goal you aren’t charged a penny, and we have to seriously consider becoming hookers or something to make this film happen. Kickstarter is a game-changer. We’re all in this together now. Art is not a one-way, supply-and-demand street any longer. We’re a village and we’re raising a child named Love Letter together. It’s pretty exciting, you guys.

QUESTION AND ANSWER SECTION
WILL YOU POST INTERVIEWS WITH THE CAST AND CREW? Well sure. Here's one with co-writer/producer, Ethan Hunter. We'll post more all throughout the campaign.
IS FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS REALLY ENOUGH TO MAKE THIS MOVIE? No.
THEN WHAT THE HELL? We have outside investors and we are putting up a substantial portion of the money (about half) ourselves. What a successful Kickstarter does is huge, though. It gets us across our minimum finish line and, maybe most importantly, it involves people. People who will discuss the film, people who will loan out their DVD's and say, "I made this happen." It makes us a community.
IS IT OKAY IF WE RAISE MORE THAN $40,000? Oh, goodness yes. $40,000 is the bare minimum number we need to make this work. Every dollar over will significantly improve the movie in a host of ways, like allowing us to shoot longer, hire more people, hire better people and lots of other stuff.
ARE THERE OTHER WAYS TO HELP BESIDES COLD, HARD CASH? If you would post the video to your Twitter or Facebook or just mention the project to one other person, it would mean the world to us and could easily be the difference between success and not so much.
KNOWING WHO INSPIRED YOU MIGHT INSPIRE ME TO OPEN MY WALLET. WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE? Any list of inspirations is going to be incomplete and leave out some really great people but we’ll try our best. Joss Whedon is a big one. Without him Love Letter would surely be a very different movie, if it existed at all. Beyond him, Craig sites Jean Pierre Jeunet as a hero along with Robert Zemeckis and Spielberg. Says Thieman, “I like people who tell stories with energy.” And then adds, “Raiders!” Hunter says he digs all those cats in a big way but his heroes are Aaron Sorkin, Brian K. Vaughan, Warren Ellis, Letterman and Steven Moffat. Then both Thieman and Hunter shout simultaneously, “And Linklater!”
I’VE GOT OTHER QUESTIONS, CAN I DISCUSS THEM WITH YOU GUYS? Yup. We are reachable as hell and would love to hear from you. You can contact us through Kickstarter if you like.

Thank you for considering our project!
"WARPED GALAXY", A HANK AND JED MOVIE PICTURE FEATURING NATE PANNING, ONE OF THE STARS OF "LOVE LETTER" - Just added! We wanted to show off Nate a little so we're putting this up here. Nate is the guy who's not the alien. Enjoy!
If you would like to add four or five dollars to international orders that would be excellent. But if you don't want to pay anything for shipping, that's cool too. We'll still send it to you. Can't guarantee the freshness of those cookies overseas, though.

At this level you will receive a “thank you” on the movie’s official website, access to behind-the-scenes updates and the heartfelt gratitude of the filmmakers who understand that each dollar you give was almost surely difficult to come by and may have been stolen from small children or older people, who are often scrappier than they look. Any donation will be of great help to us as we go forward.Estimated delivery: Jul 2012

MONKEY CELL-PHONE THIEF LEVEL: At this level you get a download of a behind the scenes documentary chronicling the process of making this picture. If you gave at the other one dollar level you still get it.Estimated delivery: May 2013
Pledge $10 or more
At this level you will receive a digital download of the official score/soundtrack of music from and inspired by the film Love Letter. We don’t know which artists will be featured on the soundtrack but we’re pretty sure it’s going to be dope. You’ll also get the “thank you” on the film’s website, the updates and ten times as much gratitude as the guys who gave us one dollar. As a very special reward for backing us at the $100 dollar level, award-winning writer Ethan Hunter will ghostwrite an actual love letter of at least 250 words to the person of your choice. Each letter will be unique and personalized, utilizing details and anecdotes provided by you. Love letters sent to or from his actual ex-girlfriends are not allowed. On his good days he’s pretty close to losing it as it is. He will only write nice letters, just so you know, but he’s pretty good at this sort of thing and I wouldn’t be surprised if the letter results in special naked time. But that’s not all! For showing such kindness and support you will also receive an 11x17 Love Letter movie poster signed by the filmmakers to go with the DVD, the download of the screenplay, the “Special Thanks” credit in the film, the thanks on the website, the behind the scenes updates and the download of the movie’s soundtrack. And it’s at this point that the gratitude does get a little creepy. We might start doodling hearts around your name in our notebooks or something.Estimated delivery: May 2013

At this level you will get everything mentioned above, except now the “Special Thanks” credit becomes an “Associate Producer” credit. Boom. You’re a Hollywood player just like that. Except not really. But you can tell people that. Many of them may believe you. This credit is of course on the film itself and will also go on IMDB, assuming they allow it. And, as if that weren’t enough, the film's director, Craig Thieman will personally make you cookies. Homemade goshdarn cookies, guys! Have you tried cookies? Those things are tasty.Estimated delivery: May 2013
