About this project
Hip Hop and the South Asian Diaspora have lead very intriguing lives together. From East to West, Desis have taken solace in the underground creative outlets of Hip Hop culture. In Washington, DC, a growing arts collective has its sights set on showcasing these immense skillz on One Amazing Night! All the performers and artists are accomplished in the Hop Hop community. They just happen to be South Asian.
To make Friday, September 23rd jump off at the historic Liv (Bohemian Caverns), your generosity is needed. Subcontinental Drift Elemental will reunite all 4 Elements of Hip Hop through a South Asian lens. Old-School DJs (Scratchers!) in the form of DJ Insomnia and his crew straight out of NYC will be in Washington DC. Vibe with Dope Emcees who will rock your brain, including the DMV's own Navi & The Whole Damme Delegation, Raja Wilco, and Ko the Timeless. Live Graffiti will be created by fresh tag artists as the night unfolds. Sick Break Dancers will battle for your love and respect.
Created amongst friends in 2007, Subcontinental Drift is the Washington DC based organization, ever striving in creating an open, inclusive community for creative South Asians and Washington Metro denizens. Monthly open mics are held at various locations throughout the city. Every year, one event is held that has never been done before. There is no profit generated from any of these events. All proceeds go directly into making the next open mic or event happen. The support generated from this Kickstarter will go towards the event, venue and many artists performing at Drift Elemental. Every little bit counts and every little bit ensures that Drift Elemental will be memorable.
Tickets are limited through this Kickstater, so act soon. Thank you for your time and generosity!
