We are raising money to help self-produce the dark and riveting play "Red Light Winter" by Adam Rapp. $1500 is about a quarter of our predicted budget, but to be safe, we are starting out slow and hope to build on our goal.
"Escaping their lives in Manhattan, former college buddies Matt and Davis take off to the Netherlands and find themselves thrown into a bizarre love triangle with a beautiful young prostitute named Christina. But the romance they encounter in Europe is eventually overshadowed by the truth they discover at home. Written with an unflinching poetic beauty, Red Light Winter is a play of sexual intrigue that explores the myriad and misguided ways we seek to fill the empty spaces inside"
Rapp's' play was last produced in New York in 2006 by the Barrow Street Theater. We are hoping to produce the show in a small theatre in where we will do 3 to 4 performances.
The money we are raising will be used specifically to cover everyday production costs. We estimate theatre rental fees to cost us approximately $2500. The rights to perform the play are $75 a performance. And we are hoping to budget out $1000 for miscellaneous needs (costumes, set pieces, lighting design, marketing materials).
This is basically a showcase for the three of us, and an excuse to do some great theatre and work with a very talented director!
