Just Buffalo seeks $5,000 to publish Wordplay, our anthology of the most powerful student writing produced from our education programs.
Wordplay is Just Buffalo’s annual anthology of student writing. But it is also so much more. Each year, more than 100 classrooms open their doors to our team of professional writers. Out of the thousands of poems, stories, and photographs produced by eager young artists, we select the most powerful works and archive them in Wordplay.
Our philosophy is simple: we give students a blank page and they give us their wishes & fears, hopes & dreams. Wordplay brings these voices together.
We know that writing is not just about getting the right answer on the test. Writing unlocks the imagination. It gives students a chance to open their hearts. It gives us a window into their bright minds, to learn what young people are thinking.
Once upon a time, it was believed that “children should be seen & not heard.” But, at Just Buffalo, we believe that every child has a voice. And, we are here to listen.
