On behalf of all the performers and composers involved in Digital Embrace, THANK YOU ALL for donating towards this Kickstarter project. Your generous contribution has made a very unique music experience possible for the Peabody and Baltimore community. If you are in the area, the event is free and we would love to see you there!
We also reached our goal ahead of the funding deadline, so what now? Well the amount over the goal will be used towards an after concert reception for everyone involved including YOU if you can make it to the concert! So feel free to share the link to the Digital Embrace Kickstarter with friends who would like to support new music and new ways of experiencing concert music.

David Vickerman is the Assistant Conductor for Great Noise Ensemble. He is also currently the Director of Bands at Johns Hopkins University where he conducts the Wind Ensemble and directs the Pep Band. While teaching at Hopkins he is attending the The Peabody Institute as a student in the Wind Conducting DMA program. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Oregon in 2010. While at the University of Oregon, he was the conductor of the Oregon Campus Band and Oregon Brass Ensemble in addition to the regular assistant conductor with the Oregon Wind Ensemble. Prior to his work at the University of Oregon, he was the Director of Bands at Lodi High School in Lodi, California and he held the position of Music Director at Hilmar High School in Hilmar, California the year before that. In 2002, Mr. Vickerman graduated from California State University Stanislaus with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education and received his California teaching credential the following year.
A fervent advocate for contemporary music, Mr. Vickerman has conducted numerous premieres including four premieres with Great Noise Ensemble last season, a ballet with Ballet Fantastique and two separate pieces that he commissioned for winds and electronics. In the fall of 2010, he was the conductor for the Louis Andriessen Concert at The Peabody Institute during the composer’s week-long residency. He has participated in numerous conducting workshops and symposiums, working with conductors such as H. Robert Reynolds, Michael Haithcock, Robert Carnochan and Jerry Junkin. His primary conducting instructors include Dr. Edward C. Harris, Stuart Sims, Robert Ponto and Harlan Parker.
