Inspiration

Harnessing the raw power of our combined imaginations, and using wing-nuts of unusual size, The Red Couch will become an aquatic conveyance of extraordinary utility and amusement! We are constructing a Bicycle-Pedal-Powered Paddlewheel Pontoon Couch to attend such events as Ephemerisle, Camp Tipsy, Our Very Own May Party, the Rivertown Revival, and other Spectacular Events! Process

The Red Couch is a collaborative effort for us, and we invite your participation in order to make it fully manifest. You can visit The Red Couch on FaceBook, to watch our progress, and the latest photos.

What we need to do

We have constructed both pontoons, and the couch's undercarriage. Now, we need to  fiberglass the pontoons, construct and attach the paddlewheel and rudder systems.  When the pieces are fully waterproofed, we will test it with weight on the water, and then make further adjustments. Our ambition is to extend the project to include parasols for shade, silkscreening a pattern onto the pontoons, and someday adding more bicycle wheels to make the piece navigable on land.

Cost

Our rough estimation is that we can finish this project in 2 weeks, with another $250 in hardware, fiberglass materials, plywood, and other odds and ends...
