The Axeman

Hi Guys and Gals,
It's Mark, the publisher guy and Warparty fan. I'm not sure that we ever described the basics of combat. In its most basic form combat is very simple. Let's look at the skeleton above (Don't look too hard. He's kinda gross.). The 3 in the top left is his attack value. The 2 in the bottom left is his defense. When the skeleton, and hopefully a lot of supporting units, moves into an enemy territory, he attacks. To do so, he rolls 1d6. If the result is equal to, or less than, his attack factor, he hits the opposing unit. The opposing unit--let's say it is the Dwarf Warrior below, then rolls 1d6 and compares it to his defense value. If it is equal to or less, he negates the hit.

Of course, that is at its most simple. There are archers that fire from the back row, units that modify their target's defense, magic, and more.
The first couple of turns in a Warparty game usually consist of expansion and building, but once the opposing armies meet, the combat is as entertaining as any I have gamed. The best part? Unlike most four-player games where the first to fight is the first to lose, the team dynamic of Warparty rewards aggressive play.
