The American Dream Project, a fine art photographic travelogue that will capture the change of the American Dream today.
ORIGINS OF THE PROJECT :
Almost twenty years ago, I came to the States driven by the American dream. As a child, I felt mesmerized by the man bouncing on the moon. While moon gazing, I became enraptured by this fantasy: someday, I would live in a land where my dreams could come true. Then, this ideal morphed into principle of success, fame, and wealth through materialism. As I began to work around this theme last year, I realized that those original ideas were shifting. I could not clearly perceive the new American dream.
I could not relate to my childhood fantasy anymore. This photographic quest will take me on a more personal journey: Is this principle still alive, and vibrant for me? What I discovered while considering this search is that the meaning of this collective dream touches all people. Everyone carries a piece of the American Dream.
So, I have to go and find out. I have decided to go across the country, and capture today’s American Dream with my camera.
I believe I bring a unique set of experiences resulting in a unique viewpoint that will bring a fresh perspective to the photographic expression of the American Dream.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Today, the ethos of the American Dream seems to have changed dramatically.
In order to document the unique current moment in American history, I will cross the nation with my camera, meet people of all backgrounds, religions, ages, and occupations and capture with the camera their American dreams. This photographic travelogue will be a unique portrait of the American Dream today. It will naturally evolve along the way. This comprehensive body of work will provide an historical touchstone of our collective aspirations in a book and a show. The American Dream Project will capture today’s’ people’s dreams for a richer, fuller life, and/ or the mistrust in this aspiration.
WHAT DO I NEED?
The project will become a large photo show. I would like to have it done for the next presidential elections.
Prints, and framing are expensive. And I do work in relatively large formats.
The American Dream show should be fully printed and is meant to travel. I will propose it have it installed and shown in different places in the USA, offering a rare and unique portrait of America. This involves costs for crates, transportation, and insurance.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
First, you will get some cool rewards illustrating today's American Dream from a unique perspective. Also, by pledging today you are starting to be part of the American Dream Project. You would belong to the dream team creating this production that will bring a better understanding and feeling of our world today.
