Sophie Leininger is a Northern California-based artist; a member of the 2011 BayVAN Artist Registry and The Compound Gallery & Studios Collective.  Her creative work blends a study of painting and sculpture, producing dreamy and abstract expressions of landscapes and human narrative. Her long-time fascination with traditional textile and rug design has never found an appropriate outlet for study.  Until now.

Magic Carpet Yoga Mats embrace traditional designs with the hand painted attention of a trained artist.  Leininger paints each design by hand and prints them on yoga mats to full size, providing a unique alternative to the common mat.  Performing yoga postures on a beautiful mat enhances the yoga experience by connecting the pleasures of the heart to the movement of the body.

While many images are printed on yoga mats today, only Magic Carpet Yoga Mats represent a thorough study of art history with a fine arts training.  Since all designs are original, Leininger’s yoga mats possess unique artistic style.  Furthermore, the pairing of textile design with yoga mats is unique to Leininger’s design concept.
