Joshua Black is a comic book project by Creator/writer/artist Martin Dunn and Co-Creator/artist Roberto Duque.
Joshua Black is a 10 issue comic book, and future graphic novel about 17 year old Joshua Black who becomes a living deity. His ancestry is that of Jesus of Nazareth. His adventures are full of dark humor, insane action and horror. His story is brought to light with help from a great supporting cast of Angels, Demons, False gods and more. Joshua Black is going to be one fun read and we think you'll really enjoy it.

Welcome to our Kickstarter campaign! Now down to the basics...
What is Joshua Black about?
- In this section, we'll talk about the book itself. If you're not interested in that right now, skip down.
Seventeen year old Joshua Black once thought that he was just as normal as anyone else. What he never realized was that he was destined to become a great leader, a revolutionary, and a Martyr...
His future, however, is not what it was predetermined to be. Joshua Black is a son of God, his bloodline shares ties to that of Jesus of Nazareth. Joshua Black is next in line in the "Hierarchy of Christ".
Now, he is a teenage God, free to push his will onto a world that has always been cruel to him. Heaven is without a ruler, prayers are going unanswered, and Angels are unaccounted for. Satan knows God is roaming the earth and that he has a mortal soul that can be corrupted!
This is the Story of Joshua Black and of how he destroyed the world...
What is Joshua Black like?
Joshua Black is a fantasy/adventure/horror story. It is written in the same vein as Buffy the Vampire Hunter, Harry Potter, Hellblazer (aka Constantine), and Dylan Dog. The story is written with a Judd Apatow spin on dark humor and brings over the top ideas and concepts to life.

What we need the funds for?
We are raising $7,000 to complete art production, publish a monthly run of 10 issues, and also publish a deluxe hardcover edition collecting the entire series in one volume. A chunk of this will go towards art duties, including guest cover artists and Roberto Duque's work on interiors. Monies raised will also fund travel expenses for Robert, allowing him to make some conventions here in the states (he's Canadian, give him a break, eh!). At least half of this covers high quality papers and printing costs. Martin gets zero (0) dollars until everyone has been paid and you have gotten your copies.
The entire run will be paid for by the Kickstarter campaign. Whatever issues we don't distribute directly to you, our Kickstarter supporters, will be sold in person during our worldwide 2012-2013 convention tour, through a website managed directly by us, and Diamond Distributors (meaning in all of your local comic shops). Based on our success here, we anticipate publishing the TBP in time to be launched at next years Orlando Mega Con.
Joshua Black #1 is already in the works. The full series will be published over a potential release of every 4-6 weeks, or roughly one issue every month. We hope to start publication this summer, and with your help, we know it will be a success.
Our Team!

The guy who is drawing this thing.
Always being told he had a knack for art and illustration, Roberto dreamed of being a comic book artist. As the years went by and the stresses of old age and responsibilities arose, art was put on the back burner. So, instead, he applied at art schools and architecture classes. When those didn't pan out, he went to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to study Television Production.
Roberto majored in Television writing, producing and directing. He directed news programs, wrote segments in talk and debate shows and co-produced the SAIT sports awards ceremony. A few commercials he wrote made it to air on a local Medicine Hat station.
As projects and shows went into various stages of production, other members got wind of his artistic talents. He then began storyboarding short films, music videos and local commercials. This brought out the art bug again and Roberto dived back into his first love: Comic Books!
With experience in storyboarding and storytelling in his back pocket, he had the tools he needed to create his own graphic novels. Roberto has written a sitcom pilot, syndicated comic strip and various graphic novel ideas waiting to share with the world. After great success at his first artist alley table at the 2011 Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo and sharing his portfolio to major publishers as Marvel, DC and Image, his determination to succeed is stronger than ever.Joshua Black will hopefully be Roberto's first published comic book work and won't be his last.

The man who came up with all this stuff. He is writing and inking it, too.
Martin Dunn was born in Winchester, Kentucky and grew up in Florida. Music and Professional Wrestling have played a significant role for the majority of his adult life.
Martin has been subject of a 2009 documentary titled, "The Rise and Fall of Pro Wrestling eKlipse" in which his promotion PWe was the main subject by wrestling website wrestling911. He has went on to promote Modern Arts Grappling and has participated as an active pro wrestler for several promotions in the United States since 2000.
In music, as a producer and performer, he has worked with the likes of Young Jeezy, Pall Wall, Cam'Ron, Juelz Santana, UGK, and Twista. In 2010, Martin left music to pursue a new artistic outlet: graphic and comic art.
In comics, Martin has recently done work for Creature Entertainments "The Zombie Years", and has done some freelance inking and writing for Marvel Comics. His current projects, in addition to Joshua Black, include "Old World 50", a post apocalyptic web comic, "Shattered", a graphic novel with artist Mandy Mau, and "Aftermath", a story about a fallen superhero.
Martin lives in Hudson, Florida with his girlfriend (Brandy), 4 kids (Alex, Trinity, Brooklyn, and Evie) and 5 dogs (Zelda, Dexter, Luna, Rosco, and Rudo). He loves video games, movies, and collecting comic book artwork.

OKAY, SO WHY ARE WE ON KICKSTARTER?
We're self-publishing these 10 issues, plus a deluxe hardcover collection. #1 is already underway! We are raising $7,000 to cover the art production, conventions, publication and distribution of the comic.
Now, $7K may seem like we are swinging for the fences. Well, to be honest, we are. Our budget comes in a little higher than that, and we want to give you, the supporters and fans the BEST possible products. Our goal is simply to see our works come to life and your help is appreciated.
Thank you so much and please spread the word.
