We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on May 9, 2012.

A thank you, a media round-up, and an earnest question for backers!

Update #1 · Apr 16, 2012 · 4 comments

First of all, we'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to all of you who have backed our composting project in its first week on Kickstarter! As I write this, we are already 15% of the way to our $15,000 goal and not looking back. Every pledge that comes in is pushing us closer and closer to our dream of cooking lush, black soil out of food scraps right on our farms in Buffalo and we could not be more gracious for this immediate and generous outpouring of support. Thank you!

Secondly, a few news sources have featured Farmer Pirates and this campaign, including today's front page Buffalo News article. While the exposure is great for our fundraising efforts, we are most excited at the prospect of more people growing their own food, either in their backyards, in community gardens, or on farms. Here's links to a few of the stories:

Buffalo News: "Reaping rewards of farming in Buffalo"

Buffalo Rising: "Support Farmer Pirates Cooperative Compost Program"

Huffington Post: "Rust Belt Cities and the New Urban Agrarianism"

And finally, we need your help choosing the colors for our compost t-shirts and hoodies! The design on the shirts is attached to the bottom of this update, but we haven't committed yet on the colors. So if you are chromatically inclined, drop us a line in the comments section and tell us what color combination you'd like to see!

Thanks again so much for your support and keep telling your friends about us!
