About this project

What is "In a Day"?

First of all, please note that this film will not be called "In a Day".  It is simply a working title and will be changed as soon as an appropriate title is thought of.

The Working Titled "In a Day" is currently a 90-page script written by Peyton Lea.  With your help, by this summer, it will be a feature-length independent film.

What's it about?

The story follows Tom, a 30-year old, down-on-life watch salesman, who is forced by his boss to come to a clocks and watches sales convention in Charlotte, NC.  Though he's never been to the Queen City, Tom, a New Jersey native, holds some biases against the southern town.  For this and other reasons, namely the accompanying Ralph--his exuberant and idiotic co-worker--Tom isn't thrilled about the trip.  Nonetheless, he and Ralph attend the convention.  There, Tom is surrounded by the very superficial corporate world and routine that has him down in the first place.  That is, until he meets April.

April is a 27-year old bartender working at the lobby bar of the hotel where Tom is staying.  She's on the opposite end of the spectrum as Tom regarding outlook on life.  She's happy.  Sure, she doesn't have a job that most people would call a career, but doesn't care for one.  She finds joy in her work, and ultimately, in life.  After Tom helps her out of a bind with her ex-boyfriend (and current-stalker), Zach, April convinces Tom to spend the rest of the day together.  The two tour Charlotte, getting to know the city as well as each other.

The story is about both the surprisingly meaningful relationship that can form after spending only one day with a stranger, and it's about embracing time.  Tom struggles to find passion or motivation in his corporate, routine life.  April helps him face those demons while sparking a slight love interest along the way.

Why should I give money to this project?

This is a story worth telling.  It's a unique, simple, relatable story that has potential to be a powerful film that you'll want to watch.

What do I get for donating?

In addition to the satisfaction of contributing to an independent, home-grown feature film, you get STUFF!  Check out the categories to the right for details.

Where does the money go?

Your contributions will go directly to making this film as professional as possible.  The project's goal is to shoot on a RED camera with a seasoned DP, high end audio, and excellent actors.  Renting all of these things can get quite expensive.  But if we can reiterate one thing, it will be that your money will be used efficiently.

Also it should be noted that your money not going any one person, but to the film production company, Peyton Lea Productions, LLC.

What happens if you don't meet your $20,000 goal?

We get none of the money!!  Your credit cards are not charged and we walk away empty handed.  So please help spread this page around to people you know!

Who are the cast and crew?

Though most positions are still being nailed down, a few key roles are established:

  • "IN A DAY" is a unique story structure all its own.  But like all good filmmakers, the makers of "IN A DAY" will naturally bring influence from great films they've seen.  Those films are:  "Before Sunrise", "Before Sunset", "Up in the Air", "(500) Days of Summer", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Lost in Translation", and "Cedar Rapids".

Connected as Peyton Lea

I was born, talked, walked, made good grades, got good at soccer, broke my collarbone, and learned how to make videos. I went to England, Scotland, Ireland, made my first short film, then another, graduated college and got a job as a photographer. After 2 years, I wanted to make a feature... and here we are.
